This is one of those photos that makes me think, "How on earth did they manage that?" A wonderful scene for the photographer, not so much for the mouse.

This works because of the great composition, complimentary colours, and sharpness of both the talons and the mouses eye. I also like how the shallow depth of field allows the viewer to focus on the terrifying claws rather than be distracted by the predator that owns them.

That facial expression says it all, disappointment through and through. I guess the guy isn't doing too well in his fight. I almost feel sorry for him. Nice light and composition. A powerful image. For me its the ability to capture emotions like this that truly make a great photo.

As soon as i saw this I thought to myself, "Ah, headache". If an image can do this that quickly then it has worked. A simple glance at this image brought to the surface memories of eating ice cream rather too carelessly. I'm not normally one for Photoshop composites, but this works really well and fits with the theme nicely.

Personally I feel that the emotion in a photograph has to be real. Its very hard if not impossible to fake. I feel that the emotion in the image is real.

Yes, the images is well composed, well lit, has colours that work well together and makes good use of the depth of field, but is is this images ability to covey emotion which gives it its tremendous power.

As I view this image I get the words a rose between thorns" rise from my subconscious. I start to have thoughts and feelings of the trials and tribulations of relationships. The flower perhaps representing love, and the thorns perhaps representing the mine filed of emotions one must circumvent to maintain it. Or perhaps I just think too much, in any case a lovely image.

I find this to be an very interesting image. The scene looks contrived but the emotions feel reel. It'd be interesting to know whether the model was acting, or expressing real emotions which he was allowing the photographer to capture. It feels to me like the subject might have lost his wife , kids and job all in one go and is struggling with alcoholism. Powerful stuff.
