Peaceful Landscapes

Congratulations for this image, I was happy to see a strong shot with an aerial perspective in my Peaceful Landscapes contest. It is interesting how a big a difference a tiny detail can make to an image. In this case the small boat only takes up about 0.02% of the frame but it has a remarkable impact on the overall result. The boat itself highlights the scale of the scene and the wake of the boat helps to demonstrate how calm and peaceful the river is otherwise. Thank you for entering my contest, and well done.

Congratulations for this beautiful and peaceful picture! There are many things which attracted me to this image. Obviously you were well rewarded for your early wake up, a soft misty morning at a calm loch is as good as it gets, but there is a lot more than luck which goes into making an image like this. The minimalist composition is a perfect match to the peaceful atmosphere of the scene and lets the viewer appreciate the silent beauty rather than making their eyes roam around the frame looking at details. The subtle and beautiful colours of the scene and the delicate processing of the image also serve to preserve and enhance the atmosphere. I feel like the decisions you made (including things you decided not to do) when capturing and processing this image were all done with the thought of producing a peaceful, harmonious and gentle end result. I love this image. When i made this contest I was hoping to see shots like this one, well done.

Congratulations for capturing this beautiful, peaceful mountain scene. This location is one I am very familiar with, having been here on a number of occasions in recent years. It is much more popular to shoot from the north-west end of the lake (where there is also a boathouse) but I always preferred this view from the south east. I think that you have succeeded very well with the central composition, all the lines in the image lead the eye to the main subject. The light is well controlled and well balanced and I thought that the image was a very good fit to my theme. Well done and thank you for entering my contest.
