Some may find this image a little "busy", but I love the jumble of shadows and silhouetted subjects, giving the viewer plenty to explore as they decipher the scene. The high contrast black and white really suits the scene and you look to have made the most of the harsh light by shooting into the light, but angling the camera down a little for a more interesting viewpoint. Congratulations on your winning image.

I love the low viewpoint of this shot, as it not only creates anonymity for the figure on the crossing, but offers a more dynamic perspective. Conversion to black and white really suits the scene, with good contrasts, accentuated by the lights gleaming on the wet road. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

An image with much to explore and plenty of interest to engage the viewer. Captured from a great viewpoint, with the painted pedestrian crossing on the crest of the hill in the foreground, and the rest of the scene stretching out down the hill to the waterfront. Everything is pinsharp and colours etc. look nice and natural, avoiding any compulsion shown by many to add elements such as a fake sunset sky or other harsh editing effects. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

This image stood out as soon as I saw it. The artificial lighting has accentuated the yellow, creating a bold and colourful image. Caught at just the right time as the bus is midway across the crossing, the slower shutter speed has created a dynamic shot, holding much more interest than an identical subject may have been with the movement frozen. Congratulations on your second place finish.

The wide panoramic view of the crossing leading to the station frontage gives plenty of interest to hold the viewer's attention. The inclusion of a few people in the scene invites further exploration. Lighting conditions look tricky, but exposure and white balance has been very well handled. Congratulations on your third place finish.

This contest is for your photos of pedestrian crossings, also known as crosswalks. Images can show any type of pedestrian crossing at ground level, where people on foot have the right of way to cross the flow of traffic at a designated place. If people are shown, they should be using a designated crossing area, not just walking across the road. The pedestrian crossing can be with or without people, on a road that is busy with traffic or empty. Whichever you choose, the pedestrian crossing should be an obvious feature of the image. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.
