People on Escalators

The subject of this contest is quite ordinary,, but although this picture is perfectly fitting the brief it is reaching pure art! Very, very beautiful... I like the symmetry which is broken by the silhouette of the person with umbrella. I also like the extra details of the falling rain. This is a remarkable picture.. It is an exception within this contest, and therefore I placed it in my top 10. I like the fact that the face of the woman is in focus and the surroundings are not.. On the other hand, the position of her body with distorted shoulder and spread legs gives away that she is very uncomfortable out there... and it doesnot feel right in a way, that she is 'upside down'.
