People Running Off-Road

This is not what I had imagined from the brief at all - although I'm unsure how anyone might imagined such a sight - but the pure joy and energy that this shot captures is irresistible. It leaves me begging to know more about this pair and their life.

I really appreciated the minimal - almost abstract - nature of the composition here. The pop of colour from the runner provides a great counterpoint to the otherwise fairly monochromatic field, and the line of the trail through the shot really draws the eye into the shot.

The sense of scale of the dunes in this shot is what made it really appeal to me, with the monochrome treatment helping to give the idea that this might easily be the surface of another planet, and the lone runner is in their own world. A worthy winner.

I love the sense of speed and dynamism in this photo, with the runner just about framed against the snow, and 5 out of 6 feet off the floor there's a real energy to the shot, and the body position of the runner gives a real idea of how the runner and dog are working together as one.
