I really enjoy the mystery of this photograph – how the road simply fades away into the mist and the water. Where does it lead? Where do travelers go? The subdued color palette adds to this effect; I also like how the grey color of the asphalt matches the water. Nice job using the road to dissect the image frame, as well.
The aerial view here is great. The curvature of the road really leads your eye through the image frame, but graphically it's also really interesting. When I looked at this image I initially saw a cursive signature, rather than a road. It's amazing how much a shift of perspective can alter our interpretations. Beautiful lighting, as well.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Criss-crossing our lands, wherever humanity has gone they’ve built roads to help them get there and back, and to transport the goods that they need to get established and thrive. The architecture and design of the roads, their accompanying signs and markings, and the kinds of vehicles on them can be a dead giveaway for the country or part of the world you’re in. They carry the life of a place around on them, and scenes of daily life play out on their edges.
