This image is a gorgeous interpretation of the contest brief. The lighting works to integrate all the elements of the photo and truly brings out the richness and warmth of the of the subject matter. The contrast between the warmth of the light and the blues in the water is stunning. In terms of composition, I see the golden ratio/fibonacci sequence, which is a difficult technique to employ. But when it works, as it does here, it is beautiful. Thank you for submitting such an incredible image in my contest.

There are several things I love about this photo. The use of negative space contrasts nicely with the texture and curve of the subject matter. The photo is well balanced and you made a good choice to use a square crop. I also think you made a good decision to make the image black and white. I think color would have complicated the visuals.
