A super capture of a fabulous jumble of rooftops. They have been captured in such a way it is difficult to determine where any narrow streets or passageways lie below, giving the viewer an indication of the pretty charm of the rooftops continuing down at street level too. The lighting is just right to give the scene texture and depth, as we see all the angles and shape of the terracotta tiled roofs butted up alongside each other. Congratulations on your winning image.
A great capture of a multitude of chimneys and roofs, captured in a way that makes it difficult to determine where one building stops znd another begins, which I like as it gives the image added interest and something further for the eye to explore. I think the inclusion of the more open street scene on the right adds to the shot, as it provides a bot of context and naturally breaks the otherwise abstract view. Congratulations on your second place finish.
An interesting image, well composed and captured to bring a rather abstract feel to these uniform rooftops. The edge of ths gables and slightly concave slope of ths roofs give a hint to the location, in a scene dominated by shapes and textures, giving much for the eye to explore. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
A great capture of the iconic wooden buildings of old Bergen, giving a real sense of the place with the narrow ways passing between the rows of red buildings. I love all the lines and angles of the gables and sloping roofs. I also love the inclusion of the seagull, giving a hint to its waterside location. Congratulations on your third place finish.
A great scene, captured from a high vantage point, looking across the rooftops to the little harbour beyond. The location is not given, but I would guess somewhere on the Yorkshire coast (maybe Staithes?) with architecture looking typical of the area, conveying the atmosphere of a charming fishing village. I love the colour palette, with soft greys and teracottas, looking to have been captured on an overcast day, helping to keep the colours muted and gentle. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos that show the exterior view of the roof of a building, or the view across several rooftops. The setting can be anything from an old rural village to a modern urban housing development, but whichever you choose, the image must focus on roofs and rooftops, not a wide sprawling cityscape view or a street scene that just happens to have roofs in the shot. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
