Great contest!

Although simulated this shows the cooperation between Air Sea Rescue and the life boat service, there is enough dynamic elements in the shot with spray, the wake and blur on tail rotor to be convincing, possibly a slightly longer exposure would have given a bit more dynamic aspect to the main rotor but great work

A different and unusual view of a rescue helicopter, it would have been very easy to blow the exposure but you have got a good exposure especially given the Down draft you would have been experiencing.

There is nicely defined rotor movement and the rigging complimented image

wow!!

The vortices from the main rotors of this osprey really capture the fact that it is taking off in “Helicopter” mode. Your exposure is spot on as all markings especially the low contrast “star & bars” are clearly definable fantastic image

I know from experience just how difficult it is to capture Otto in foul night display, this is a good action picture covering both the helicopter and the pyrotechnics, there is just enough in the main rotor and the markings on the blade are illuminated against the dark sky by the pyrotechnics

See more contest details

In this contest I would like to see your photographs of rotary-wing aircraft, such as helicopters, autogyros or tilt rotors. Photographs must show them flying, although the aircraft can be close to the ground but not in contact. In order to make it look realistic rather than “frozen” in the air I will be looking for signs of motion or movement in the blades, which means selecting your shutter speed carefully. I am looking forward to your entries.

Great image of the helicopter making its final approach, the quality of the slight wake and the blue of the water compliments the grey of the helicopter and if the helicopter had been higher in the frame it would have been lost in the haze of the sky. One thing possibly to consider is the horizon isn’t quite straight although the deck seems very close to horizontal
