This photograph immediately grabbed my attention with its high key look and sharp detail. The pattern of each shell is so interesting to the eye, and the use of selective color further enhances the composition. Well done on placing in the top ten and thank you for entering my contest!

Nature's art is well recorded in this image. The detail and simplicity is exquisite. I love the color of the shell against the dark sand. The patterns left behind by the tide are perfectly placed, and there is a zen-like quality to this image that makes me feel calm. Well done on placing in the top ten and thank you for entering my contest!

I love the story behind this photo! Sometimes randomness creates a fine work of art. What makes this particular "happy accident" work so well are the unusual beauty of these particular seashells, excellent composition, great lighting and sharp focus. Well done on placing in the top ten and thank you for entering my contest!

When I first laid eyes on this photo, I had never heard of "scanography" (the use of a flatbed scanner to photograph an image). I must say that I am most impressed with the results. I was struck by how the lighting created depth in the composition. The shells the photographer chose for this image were excellent for this use. I love the colors and fine detail of each shell pictured. This still life is a lovely work of art. Well done on placing in the top ten and thank you for entering my contest!

There is so much beauty in nature that we cannot see very well with the naked eye. Many different kinds of seashells have so much detail that we must get close to view it. Macro photography allows us to see such beauty in all its finest. The photographer of this image chose a perfect subject to magnify for this purpose. The photo is beautifully composed and lit, and I love the conversion to black and white that further accentuates the exquisite detail of this sand dollar. Well done on placing in the top ten and thank you for entering my contest!

This has been an incredibly hard contest to judge simply because there were so many gorgeous photographs to choose from. But only one can be the winner, and I selected this cut nautilus shell as my number one. Several beautiful images of cut nautilus shells were entered into my contest, but this one stood out in the crowd. The composition, lighting and sharp detail puts all the focus on the perfect spiral pattern of this shell. Such a beautiful work of natural art! Sea shells have always fascinated me, and this image shows why they do. Congratulations on placing first, and thank you for entering my contest!

I love sea shells. In fact, I love them so much, that I tried to bring home half of Sanibel Island, Florida , the seashell capital of the world (not exactly the best thing to do when you have to catch a plane)! For me, it's the thrill of the hunt; what is the most aesthetically pleasing shell that I can find? Do you also love sea shells? if so, please show me what you have collected and photographed, the prettier the better. You may photograph many or just one, and you may process your image any way you like, B&W or colour, as long as your subject can be easily recognized as sea shells.
