Seafront Buildings and Piers

August 2022

I remember these huts when I was in Melbourne several years ago. This is a really nice picture of these famous huts. The colours are so strong and they all work well together. The picture has nice composition too, leading my eye along the huts.

This image certainly has a very painterly and impressionist feel about it, nice post production work! The soft tones and lighting enhance the atmosphere of this picture. The composition is very strong. The lines of the wood and the perspective take my eye straight into the centre of the image.

I like the atmosphere in this picture. The slow shutter speed gives an ethereal feeling and I like the misty sea effect and the movement in the clouds contrasting against the sharpness of the pier's structure. The golden hour lighting is perfect.

I really like the warm tones of the colour palette and the soft lighting in this image. The composition too is very nice with the perspective of the huts and the vanishing point which leads my eye into the image.

This is a lovely image, the boat shed gives me a feeling that it has a face. I like the composition with the wooden pontoon leading me to the door and holding my attention. the soft tomes and the blue and orange colours all work well to make this a special image.

Beautiful sunset colours in this image. I like the use of a slow shutter speed to create a very atmospheric picture with the sea turning into a velvety mist. The composition works very well, leading my eye into the picture.

This image is very interesting. I like all the different textures and shapes that probably wouldn't be visible or appreciated form eye level, they are fascinating and I've been studying it for ages. The yellow and green/ blue colours work well against the grey concrete.

What a fun place for kids to hang out, I'm sure some health and safety people would have something to say! It's a very interesting picture with lots of energy and it held my attention for a long time. Nice lighting on the hotel and rocks!

This is a lovely image with a lovely complimentary blue and orange colour palette (one of my favourite colour combinations). The murmuration of the starlings look great against the orange sky. The hard structure of the pier contrasts nicely with the softness of the sea and sky.

Such a beautiful and calming colour palette in this image. The composition is very strong and the soft lighting on the beach huts adds to their calming quality. I like the sun hitting the trees above, it balances very nicely with the colourful tones of the huts.

I like the bold and graphic feel in this picture. The lattice work in the structure reminds me of a spider's web. The soft, white lighting really helps make the pier stand out. I also like the fact that the image really only has one bold colour running through it.

I love this image for it's strong composition and beautiful colours. The soft lighting works very nicely on the huts, sky and water and the slow shutter speed gives the water just enough motion blur to add to the atmosphere.

This image stood out to me for its strong and bold composition along with a very nice colour palette. The aerial view also made a refreshing change from the normal eye level view of Brighton pier. The time of day is perfect, combining the ambient light and just enough artificial light to give colourful glows.

Wow, congratulations, the composition in this picture is superb and what great timing!! Beautiful lighting on the beach huts, I love the way the sun falls off the hut that the rainbow lands on. The double rainbow with the wind turbine perfectly in the middle is sublime, couldn't be any better!!

This is very nice, would look great hanging on a wall! It has a very nice, calming atmosphere, the blue colour adds to this and the slow shutter speed allows the water to have a misty effect and give us some movement in the clouds, which I like a lot.

Seafront architecture has many themes that are particular to its location. From Victorian cast iron pleasure piers, to fishermen’s cottages, and incorporating all manner of other buildings associated with the seafront’s varied uses. We go there on holiday, we set sail from it to travel afar, or to catch and bring back the sea’s bounty, and we live on it, with a prized sea-view if we’re one of the lucky ones.
