Whether this is an entirely serendipitous moment or was meticulously planned it's simply a fabulous shot. The light, composition and timing make for an impressive image but the inclusion of one of nature's rare wonders elevates it to a whole new level. I note the judicious choice of shutter speed with admiration. In my experience, around 1/60th of a second is as low as you can go in order to keep a moving ship sharp in low light.

I love the bright colours and the composition of this aerial image. The meandering boardwalk balances nicely with the ship graveyard. I don't think it's too much of an exaggeration to say that drones are something of a game changer for photography. It certainly is for ship photography. UAVs are a relatively cheap and easy way to get perspectives that were previously only the realm of manned flight.

This is a wonderful study of one of the most storied ships in history. The leading lines make for a nice composition but it's the raking light, softly reflecting off the hull and the muted colours that make it stand out for me. What can you say, it's just riveting!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** The largest vessels that sail our seas are ships. Larger than boats (a boat being, by one definition, small enough to be carried on a ship) they haul our cargo, protect our territories, carry sightseers from luxury port to luxury port, and much more besides. Images of the whole or any part of a ship, inside or out, are welcomed, and let’s not worry too much about where the crossover between boat and ship occurs, but the emphasis in this contest is certainly on larger vessels.
