This is a beautiful natural industrial scene which is hard to take. It has a great feel of production, work and honesty. I love the bellowing chimneys and the fact that they don't give a negative effect in the scene. I like the weather - it gives the feel of an ordinary working day that has been captured and cherished. The zoning of the picture works well too - trees, industrial subject and the sky are all in balance. All the colours blend together to produce an image very pleasing to the eye.
I love the mood and atmosphere of this image - it has the feel of a Lowry painting. The grainy style gives it a painted feel as well, and distracts the viewer from the photographic detail. The composition gives a great sense of space to the image with the large foreground and sparse details of people and trees. I like the fact that the power station is muted and looks very natural in the scene and not overpowering. I also love that the image has the human element as its focus.

This is a great action image! I'm not sure if it is actors or an actual scene but it has great drama, excitement and a sense of danger. I love the movement in the image - it has caught the moment extremely well and the timing is perfect. The lighting from the sun works very well too, with the guy charging out of the shadows and into the light. I also like the concerned man on the edge of the image just reinforcing the drama.

I love the colours in this photo: the blue of the sky and the warmth of the sun rising from the bottom of the picture. It looks so fresh, modern and positive. The image is very graphic and readable, although it still has that abstract feel, which is a fine balance. I like the composition and the focus of the image showing just a section of the building detail. It's an image with length - you can go back to it and pick out different reflections and shapes every time. Stunning.

I love the concentration of the child here and the way the hand is touching the chest in anticipation. The light from the iPad is just right, and the image is beautifully in focus drawing us into the subject. The background, which is subtly lit, gives it the feel of a real environment. I like the angle of the screen not showing too much information, so your eyes are drawn back to the child and the emotion. The dark space around the subject gives us a great sense of drama.
Black and white really suits this image has an excellent tonal range. This is a lovely shot, well executed using available light. Both the photographer's and the subject's hands must have been very steady. I like how the man is isolated by darkening what would have been a very busy background. The focus on the hands draws you into the phone and then back to the character. I like the position of the model and that lovely expression of slight distain.
This shot works very well with the rows of wind turbines leading your eye into the picture and then circulating around. I like the strong but muted colours - the warm pink gives a positive feel to the image and, sandwiched between the blue, the greens and the greys, holds the viewer's point of interest. I'm pleased to see that there is no clutter in the foreground to distract from the fine lines of the turbines and the sky does not distract either. This is a fine shot.
My eyes jump around this image picking up the points of focus: the hands, the photographer's face and then the person looking to the screen. I like the rich reds contrasting with the background colours - it gives it a good natural harmony. The viewpoint is slightly unusual and I like the position of the hands on the iPad, which is quite graphic. The timing is good too, capturing everybody caught up in there own thoughts or just having a gossip! Lovely mood.
Confused? This is a superb still life of the complexity of engineering. It has a great 3D feel - you almost want to put your hand into the photo and adjust a nut. I love still life images of technology that move away from just the technical into an art form. It also has great viewpoint - your eyes are drawn into the subject, and then you start to try and untangle it. The subtle tonal range suits the subject well and doesn't make it more confusing. This is a stunning industrial image.
This photo is so full of energy! There is a lot going on here: power generation and industry, but because it is concentrated on one line it works very well. The long exposure is perfect, giving all the elements time to express themselves. The bright highlight does not distract, but adds to the excitement of the scene, and you wonder what might be happening in the distance. I like the unusual colour of the foreground lit by the car lights, which blends in very well with the industrial subject and sky elements. The juxtaposition of wind energy and pollution from fossil fuel is also great.

This is a stunning macro shot of a gadfly with excellent detail. I should imagine this took a lot of patience and planning. I love the colours in this image with the cyan and the yellow complimenting each other. The clean white background helps to give an excellent profile to the insect. I perhaps wish that the crop wasn't this tight so that I could see the end of the arms. It would also allow the image to breathe a bit more. But a cracking image overall.
This is a great graphic image. It's very very simple, but it captures the beautiful architecture of the subject. The strength and power of the equipment is drawn out - I'm not sure what it is or what the scale of it is, but it works very well. I like the positioning of the image - it is not slap-bang in the middle. I like the tonal range of the wall and the way it draws your eyes up to the top of the picture.
The Eye has become a landmark icon of London and photographers have created some stunning images of it. This is one of them. The blue light creates great impact against the night sky. It is well exposed with detail in the highlights and shadow areas. I like the vast sky which allows the image to sit well and not feel too crowded. The well-timed exposure has given a nice clean line, illustrating the circuit of the eye. This is a very pleasing image.
