Sparkly Still Life (in colour)

Thank you for entering the “Sparkly Still Life” contest. This is undoubtedly an excellent macro shot combining elements of both sparkle and water. It had immediate impact and was a definite top ten from the start. The image has an air of fantasy about it, almost fairy like, and your use of lighting has intensified this mood. Well done!

Thank you for entering the “Sparkly Still Life” contest. I am a big fan of close up/macro plant life so this image ticked that box straight away. I note that you have focus stacked, but in my opinion, that is a skill in itself! I like the slight diagonal angle of the stem and that it fills most of the frame, with just a fraction of leaves visible at the top edge. You have clearly taken advantage of the natural lighting to enhance the stem detail which, as you state, shows off the “hairs” as sparkling jewels.

Thank you for entering the “Sparkly Still Life” contest. The brief stated sparkly or glittery items, and you have clearly delivered on that. You could have chosen a more subtle colour of glitter, but opted instead, for a vivid blue, and this is probably what initially drew me to the image.

I believe your intention was to create a different and fun image, and you have succeeded! There is an obvious centre of interest and filling the frame has established this, and by using fewer elements, you have enhanced the overall image.
