I really like this as an image. The natural colours work well and the pops of red colour draw your attention through the image. I like this as showing more of the surroundings, as well as having the spider as the main subject in focus. DOF is good here, and the more that you look at the image, the more that you see (like the bug hiding on the underside of the leaf). The spider is interesting and I like the different approach that you have taken, photographing it from the side. It is not one that you would normally see in photography, so it is good to see it here. Well done and this image gets my pick as 1st Place :-)
The colours instantly drew me to this image. I love the burnt orange of the leaf. It compliments the Spider very well. The leg up and pointing is a nice touch. It is amazing how you can photograph something so small and manage to get them to stay still. You've done a really nice job here. I like the lines/veins of the leaf that lead you to the Spider as well. Well done :-)

Classic! There were a few images like this one in the competition, and the reasoning for picking this one for the Top 10 was the angle of the Spider, coupled with the amazing reflection and the lighting. The clean area around the Spider helps make this look a very pleasing image. I have said before on a different review, but I have to say again, nature never ceases to amaze me. The different parts of the Spider and the tiny hairs all over the body, is something that we don't normally see, as most people would be running in the opposite direction. Well done on a nice image and thank you for sharing :-)
Nature never ceases to amaze me. The colours and the markings on this Spider are beautiful. Maybe the Fly that is being munched on would not agree with me, but it is shots like this that you can really appreciate these things. I like the non-cluttered BG to show off the web, and the little maggots on the fly are a nice touch. Well caught and perfect timing. Well done :-)
Again, something a little different in this image, which I like. Focus looks really good on both Spiders. The shapes of the leaf look really good, like it is an eye. The simple BG and colour works well against the Spiders and the leaf. I think though that maybe a LS format might of worked well, as there is a big space top and bottom, but it looks tight on the sides. I don't know if this was possible though. Still a great image. Well done :-)
This image was very close to being picked as 1st Place. I love the colours of the image and I like the way that the Spider is pin sharp and backlit against the ferns. The hairs on it's legs are really long and something that you do not appreciate when looking at the Spider with the naked eye. I like the way that you have got the legs on the right side just touching over the front of the fern. It looks like you caught him or her in action and then it froze. If I stay still, they will not see me, ha ha ha. Again, I like the fact that this image is showing more of the surroundings as well as the spider. The DOF works well in this image and I like the BG and FG being OOF. Well done on a great image :-)

Light and feel of this image is great. I love the Bokeh and the way that the web pops. On the initial view of all the images, this is one that stood out in my mind. I love the way that you have the focus pin sharp on the Spider. It draws your eye to it. I also like the way that the bottom half of the image is darker, and the Spider is on the underside of the web. It is almost like where you imagine the Spiders to be crawling around, in the darker areas. Well done, and like all the images in here, I wish I could put all of you in First Place :-)
