I have mixed feelings about this photo. It is heavily post-processed, as the same author admits. However, photography is not synonymous of realism. If photography is also beauty and emotion, this picture is perfect in showing the essence of the animal jumping out of the water. The result is surely worth the author's hard work.

I've seen two versions of this photo, the second one showing a closer crop of the bird landing on the water. Both are impressive, but the one I selected for my Top 10 gives, in my opinion, a better representation of the subject and the elegance of the act. Much more splashes, too... I would have tried to reduce the dominant green color of the water.

Among the many fruits, vegetables, small objects dropped into water for taking this kind of pictures, I think this one should be commended for the choice of the subject. The overall effect is nice, but I would have corrected the right eye of the mannequin which look quite frightening. Besides that, a good idea and a well-executed photo.
I choose this picture among the many depicting drop splashing (including my photo for the contest header) because it is not overcharged with too many drops and splashes and shows a good chromatic contrast between the blue of the paint and the orange of the background. Sharp photo, for an overall very pleasant effect.

I choose this photo among the plethora of drops colliding and objects dropping in water, because of the skill of the photographer in making the glass 'disappearing', playing with the contrast of the glass and the liquid against the white background. Don't know why the photo is not centered in the frame, it's not too annoying but it doesn't add anything to the overall impact of the photo.

I would like to see your best photos of splashes. The splashes can be any liquid such as water, paint, mud etc. The photos must be of real splashes, not splashes created in photo editing software. Creativity and shooting skills are the key things I am looking for in my judging.
Meet the judge
Water drop collision has become a category per se in photography. It is difficult choosing one picture over the other, in this case I think it should be commended the fantasy of the photographer in recognizing a goalkeeper in the drop. In the future, we should probably propose the use of these pictures for Rorschach tests!
It's a pity for the smashed orange (and the many probably wasted before getting it right), but the photo is a masterpiece of synchronization. Just for that, it should be commended. The overall effect is also interesting. The photo could have benefitted of more contrast between the color of the breadboard surface and the orange.
