A very striking still life in the tradition of a Dutch master painting. Built on three levels with a very dramatic pin hole light source. I like the position of the jug relative to the light with the light and shadow from the handle and ovoid shape giving a strong form. Although the jug is only partly visible I am able to visualize its full shape. The lighting for the apples is well controlled and their positions perfect. The red earthy color palette is both dramatic and restful. Well done and congratulations on being my number one selection.
An unusual and creative still life. Your choice of black and white works well with this image. Without color distractions we observe all three elements. The sharpness of the barbed wire, the hard brittleness of the glass and the softness of the ribbon. Three items out of context but which draw the viewer in, not a photo to quickly pass by. Congratulations in being in my top ten selection.
A beautiful arrangement of Physalis alkekengi in a small box that serves as a picture frame. I like that several casings overlap the edge of the frame to give the image extra depth. The subtle colors work really well. A careful composition that lends itself to a square format. Congratulations on being in my top ten selection.

A study of three stone bottles on a sunny window ledge. A very carefully set up still life with many nuances. The light from the window casting shadows between the bottles. The shadow side of the bottles lit from the interior with an intriguing pattern. The glass reflections take us further into the image and the color and textures help to make this image a deserving top ten position.

For this contest I would like to see your still life photos in a square format. This means your photo will be contained within four equal sides. This formula relies on tonal contrasts, visual elements, line, texture and shapes. It eliminates surplus elements. Photos can be in colour or black and white. Please remember only inanimate objects. I look forward to seeing your photos.
