What a fantastic photograph of this young man playing a brass horn. The detail is incredible, and the exposure is spot on. The composition is tight, keeping all the focus on the street musician as he plays for the passing audience. While there are no additional details of when or where, this remains a really standout image for me.
A really standout image capturing all the energy of a performer on the streets of Edinburgh. Despite the famously unpredictable Scottish weather, the photographer made an excellent choice in continuing to shoot. I love that it’s taken from behind, showing the scene from the performer’s perspective as he faces the audience. The choice of black and white further enhances the drama and impact of the image.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked 1001+ in this week’s Leaderboard.** Performing in public, for tips and the appreciation of the crowd, dates back to antiquity, and covers the full range of the performing arts, from acrobatics and music, to living statues and storytelling. There's usually action and excitement aplenty to be captured with the camera, and getting as close as possible to the performance will pay dividends. Your conscience might also incline you to chuck a bit of change in the hat as a thank you for the chance to take some snaps.
