I love the way that you have been lucky with your timing to get the right colours together. I'm guessing that the camera set the focus point on the rim of the glasses or you may have moved ever so slightly. it would have been just that little bit better to get on the closest eye, but given the time usually associated with these shots, I can definitely understand. It's a lovely vibrant photo.
As soon as I shortlisted this photo I knew that it would be amongst the high placed photos. You have captured a fantastic image, full of expression and detail. The use of the subdued matte colour in this works really well. You have managed, either when taking the photo or in post processing to get enough light everywhere it is needed to do this gentleman justice.
The image combined with your details tells us a great story, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, this image is worth even more.

How comfortable do you feel approaching a stranger in the street and ask to take their photo? I know it can be a challenge for some people, but this contest is for your best work showing street portrait photos of strangers. Enter a portrait image which attempts to show that you engaged and spoke with the subject of your portrait. The photos should be taken up close, so please no use of a zoom lens (use 85mm lens maximum). Please include the camera data in your submission to show which lens you used.

Most in the top 10 have made the effort to explain a bit more about their photo, the subject and the circumstances in which it was taken. You have given more information than most, on top of which you have taken an absolutely fantastic photo. The negative space behind just serves to draw me more into the subject himself and into his eyes. Great Work
