A small beautiful moment captured on the streets of Havana. The women has such poise and dignity which has been photographed with care and compassion. I love the balance of the small dog and her companion smiling, it really lifts the image. Lots of amazing detail too - even the cup on the floor adds to the time and place. Great work.
I love this shot of a group of young children hanging out on the streets of Mozambique - their joy and happiness have been so beautifully captured it made me laugh out loud - it really shows the power of a great photograph. The exposure and composition is top class too - I can't fault it - great work!
I'm not sure where we are in the world with this image but it's a beautifully captured portrait of a senior woman at home, looking out onto the street. It's a really lovely moment - I imagine the photographer has engaged with the sitter and she has obliged with a warm, candid expression. Lots of lovely detail in the background too - great exposure and composition. Nice work!
Such a great image so beautifully captured. A young girl quenches her thirst at a communal tap in the bright sunlight - the water sparkling in the afternoon light. You can almost feel the heat from the street. The exposure and detail in the image is excellent despite the harsh light - great observation - top work!
A great street portrait - I'm not sure if the woman is entirely happy being the subject but nevertheless it makes a great image. I love the muted pastel colours - the blue plaster work contrasting very nicely with a flash of her pinky-red top. Her expression is difficult to read which adds an additional sense of tension. Great work!
Love the cheeky smile which you can see in her eyes - a really sweet portrait of a young girl hanging out on the streets of Madagascar. It's a single portrait but you can just about make out she's not alone. A couple of heads appear at the bottom of the photograph and a shoe with shadowy legs above. Lovely image well captured..
A quiet moment so beautifully captured - a young girl lost in thought. The sunlight cutting across her face makes this a really stand out shot for me. There's not much more in terms of place and location normally associated with street photography but this image is hard to ignore. The detail and exposure are superb - a really excellent portrait - a well deserved number one spot!

A really beautiful image of a Hazara girl in Afghanistan - very reminiscent of the famous National Geographic front cover by Steve McCurry. The composition and lighting are excellent - such a strong portrait, her direct gaze completely stops you in your tracks. Shot at F2.8 the background is pleasingly soft in contrast to the pinsharp focus on the girls face. Great work.
I'm not entirely sure what's happening in this image as there's little detail. A station master signals an oncoming train in what looks like an empty station in Bulgaria. The quiet drama is brilliant and the colours and composition are fantastic - the sunlight illuminating the stern guard beautifully against a dark background. A great observation well captured - nice work.

Street portraits are fascinating peeks into the worlds of those who we pass every day as we go about our business. We’re defining a street portrait as an outdoor portrait in a built environment where the subject knows you are photographing them. You may or may not know the subject. In terms of stepping outside your comfort zone, approaching a stranger and asking if you can take their picture can be a big challenge for many. The sense of satisfaction and achievement that can spring from this is great, so if you’ve not done it before then now’s your chance!
I love the clarity of this shot - there's no background information in terms of place unfortunately but it's a great portrait. Despite her age there's a strength in this woman which you can see in her direct gaze to camera and her strong hand holding onto the fence. A really lovely moment well captured - excellent work.
