I can't fault in any way the wonderful classic composition of this image as our eye is taken into the photograph. The detailing is superb and the use of soft black and white only adds to a other worldly environment. The high camera angle allows us to look down onto the arrangement of cliffs and the beautiful white waves as they hit the beach. Our eye naturally follows the vista out to the distance and the grey foreboding sky. A wonderful capture. Really well done.
This stunning image works on many levels from the low camera angle capturing the glistening beads of lights in the blurred foreground to the illuminated waves crashing into the shoreline. This is broken up with the individual walking through the frame. The inclusion of the red bucket backlit is lovely as are the two birds that circle around the body of the person. The formal arrangements are perfectly balanced together as is the exposure under difficult lighting conditions. A great image, well seen and controlled. Just lovely.
This incredible scene could be a shot from the film Dune. The epic vista takes time to really see all the intricate detailing within the frame. The small group of individual fishermen waiting for the tide to come in, the soft haze three quarters into the frame leading into the rocks is incredible to look at as is the city almost perched in the sea miles from where the photographer has placed themselves. The exposure and saturation are beyond reproach and the high viewpoint gives this incredible sense of space and scale. This really is an epic scene and would benefit from printed large and framed. It is stunning to spend time just looking at it. Really well done.

The power of our seas has crafted some of earth’s most spectacular scenery. It includes vast beaches, soaring cliffs, tiny alcoves, expansive natural harbours, and everything in-between. In some areas our coasts are unspoilt and quiet, in others we have created bustling and often gaudy tourist resorts. It’s a relaxed brief for this contest, that can cover anything from landscape imagery to documentary and architecture.
