The colour red

Wow! The lady in red. Red being evocative of passion, love and anger. This image is so striking, it really jumped out at me and demanded my attention. The vibrancy and richness of the red is so intense. The sharpness of the model is outstanding and the use of light is exceptional . The shadow and highlights are handled really well, fantastic tone and grade overall. The confident stare to camera, the red lips, the movement in the fabric. It's just pretty perfect really. The skin is so smooth, looks like expert post production work here. Personally, I like to see freckles and skin that isn't perfect. However, this is a really slick image I could totally see being used for an advertisment. Really awesome.

This image is so vibrant and alive and the colours are so rich, a really gorgeous image. The graphic composition is really strong, it is certainly making me hungry! If I was shooting this I'd be tempted to pull back a little and give it a bit of space. Saying that, the detail and sharpnesses of the subject is spot on and really highlights the textures of the fish skin. Super image!

As an interiors photographer, I was really drawn to this image. Really beautiful choice of subject, such a stunningly decorated interior. Often the temptation is to over light interiors but this can lead to really flat images. The natural light streaming in to define the space has been handled really well. The detail in the shadows is still there so its a nice balance of contrast. Great angle as the temptation would be to shoot it straight on to center the door, however, this angle works, it is leading me in. I really want to see more of the building. Well done.

The sharpness in this Marco image is incredible. Great technical knowledge shown here. The way the light subtly picks out the textures and highlights certain elements of the flower is beautifully achieved. The depth of colour and velvety richness in the reds is incredible! It is really sensual but not overtly sexual which can be tricky with details of flowers. I could see this enlarged and printed/displayed in any space and draw attention. Stunning.

This image certainly says red! I really like the composition and the position of the dancers feet. The overhead point of view really makes this shot special. The big soft light is really beautiful, it really highlights the movement and texture in the skirt and captures a real dreamy mood. From a distance it takes on a different form, it almost looks like a detail of a flower. It is a really original way to show mood and movement without actual movement. Really stunning image.

What a visual delight, this is such a stunning image. The monochrome red/black works beautifully especially reflected in the mirror like water. A truly beautiful image that stopped me in my tracks. The composition is spot on and I love the negative space around the trees, that the image has space to breath. A really creative image with the red theme at heart. I love that no matter how you rotate the image it works. It almost takes on a human element when turned on its side, like lungs. really gorgeous well done!

Wow! This image for me, encapsulates the Red theme perfectly. The emotion displayed is palpable. I can feel the power of the protest, the rage, it really captures the moment. The point of view is so clever as it feels like I am right there, I can almost feel the smoke burn my eyes. The composition is so powerful. The point of the focus on the hand, with the foggy high rise buildings in the background gives it a sense of place yet all eyes are on the hand, the arm, the red smoke. Really outstanding.

Stunning image of flamingos here. There were a lot of images of birds, a lot of which I commended, however, this one for me really stood out, it showed real originality. The dark black background really isolates the subject. Are they fighting? Or is it playful? The depth of field means all eyes are on the two main protagonists. The detail of the feathers and colour is outstanding. The fall off on the focus of the birds in the foreground and background is really beautiful. A really gorgeous image.

Wow, this image really struck me, almost like a still from a comic, a graphic novel or a Marvel movie. I love it. I am drawn to the vibrant monochrome feel. It is a restricted colour palate but wow it packs a punch. The colour red is so dominant here, really illuminescent. The complete darkness of the background, the punch of red and the crisp white window frame, the hard shadows. It feels surreal. I really want to know more about how this image was achieved.

This shot is awesome. The technical skills needed to achieve this are in full display. So much to get right. The flash speed to freeze the movement and the water droplets so perfectly. The weight of the water in the fabric. The model to get her timings and energy up. This shows real confidence. All the elements work. It's such an energetic image, it feels alive. The shape the swimmer makes, the curve of the body carries through the fabric like a continuous wave. The dark background really highlights the water and the red jumps out. I personally like that the image wasn't cropped so we can see the reflections in the water. Outstanding.

Red is the colour of love and for me, this image represents the theme beautifully. This bride is re-splendid in rich reds and jewels. It is so painterly in its beauty. The composition is spot on, the crop gives the picture a real intimate feel. I also personally like the fact that the bride isn't looking to camera. The depth of field really shows all the detail in all the elements of the fabric, jewellery and henna paint. This really feels like a caught private moment, Beautiful.

This shot has everything! The bold colour, cinematic composition, and depth. Beautiful strong graphic lines that lead you into the shot and towards the centre and the figure. The point of view really draws you in. I want to know more, where is she going? What is on the other side? Without the figure this would be a really striking architectural image, but the figure adds another dimension and a narrative. Excellent work.

This image says so much. It really feels like a caught moment. It's playful but seductive. The composition, the colour and the textures all work really beautifully. Red lips, a symbol of sensuality peep out from under the brolly. The lips just off centre, the curves and shape of the umbrellas, the curve of the lips. It has a strong cinematic feel with the grain and dramatic lighting. This shot is really original and whimsical, a really great shot!
