This is a very successful image of Embledon Bay in Northumberland. The round boulders through to the vertical cliffs in the background are crystal clear and expertly captured. The conversion to monochrome accentuates the sky and the reflections on the rocky foreshore making this an appealing image perfectly fitting the brief of capturing the English Coastline. Congratulations.
What a fantastic image! Excellent composition, great colour and tone, pin sharp throughout and it fully meets the brief in encapsulating the nature and geography of the English Coastline. The image contains the prerequisites for a strong composition: Strong leading lines which takes the viewer from the foreground around to the rocks at the end of the peninsula; it uses the rule of thirds; has interesting subject matter and an excellent sky. The resulting image also reflects the photographer's determination and dedication to revisit the site in order to achieve the desired outcome. You have been subsequently well rewarded. Congratulations on your first place result!

A stunning capture of Marsden Rock in the North East of the country. The colour rendition brings the scene to life and makes the rock stand proud on the wave cut platform beneath it. The use of a small aperture f/22, to both create sharpness throughout the image along with a long exposure to flatten the water allows the rock to appear to have an almost 3D effect, thus elevating it onto the screen. A very well composed and executed shot. Right on brief. Congratulations.
I loved this monochrome image of Sandsend Beach on the North Yorkshire coast because it is both beautifully composed and simplifies the nature of the wide expanse of beach at low tide. The tones are perfectly captured with highlights on the breaking waves and reflections on the sand patterns in the near foreground. A very well executed image, right on brief. Congratulations.
This splendid image encapsulates the essence of the English Coastline. The White Cliffs at Birling Gap on the Sussex coastline stand proud against a moody and stormy sky, whilst the use of a wide angle lens and a low shutter speed allows the viewer to wander dreamily across the foreshore towards the land. The gaps of light in the sky which are also reflected in the water, add definite drama to the ambience of this excellent shot and the colour toning of the foreground and sky is beautifully subtle and skilfully managed. Well on brief too. Congratulations.
This is a beautiful image of the Twin Towers, remnants of the Cornish tin mining industry. It has great composition and makes excellent use of the technique of long exposure to provide a stunning view of this section of the English Coastline - rugged, imposing and solid. The rocks are made to stand out in the image as they contrast with the milky white of the waves along with the subdued blue palette of the ocean and sky. An all round excellent capture, perfectly on brief. Congratulations.
This image stood out for me because it focused on the crumbling cliffs and highlighted the geological strata and fragility of the coastal landscape. The line of red/orange exposed chalk strata provides an excellent leading line to the left of the image where coincidentally one's eyes are drawn to the human presence providing scale to the shot. Right on brief too. Well done.
Captured - 'A moment in time'. Whilst the image of the coastal lowlands at Blundellsands, Crosby is a super illustration of the nature and geography of the English Coastline and thus fits the brief, it is the person with the umbrella which projects it into the realms of a photograph with a story to tell and successfully bringing a human scale to the landscape. We want to learn more about it. Congratulations.
I particularly liked this image of the Northumberland Coastline for the low warm light on the scene. It has great composition with an interesting dune grass foreground with leading lines drawing the eye along the dunes to Bamburgh Castle in the distance. The long exposure provides enough movement in the clouds and grasses to give them a dreamy like quality which enhances the appeal of the image. Congratulations on very successfully capturing this section of the English Coastline.

Great use is made of long exposure photography in order to capture this popularly photographed view Durdle Dor on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset. The image has that stand out quality - great exposure, excellent composition, captivating skies and great leading lines. A superb effort and spot on brief. Congratulations.

I would like to see your photos of the English coastline that especially include its outstanding natural and geographical beauty. Whilst people and human constructions are permitted in the image, they should not be the main focus of the image and most importantly no industrial coastal landscapes should be submitted. New submissions are welcome. Please include the location in the image description or title. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your images of the English coastline.
It was good to see how adaptable this photographer has been in order to capture the essence of the Lancashire coastline. The square crop is a successful format, allowing the viewer to cast their eye from the foreground sands, out past the statue to the birds, the sea and the pink skies above the hills in the far distance. The colours and tones in this image provide a peaceful sense of calm. Well done.
