We all love autumn! However this does mean there are millions of photos created every week throughout the season and as photographers we must work hard to be different. We received many images of children playing amongst autumn leaves, but this shot really stood out for its shallow depth-of-field, restrained colour palette and quiet atmosphere of these kids enjoying the outdoors. Nicely seen, captured and processed. Well done!

Here's another image which demonstrates that there is more to autumn than fiery red, yellow and orange leaves. By focussing on a smaller detail the image has captured the 'feeling' of the season and highlighted another common scene which many of us would overlook. The framing is excellent too, as is the focus. A lovely vignette of the autumn months!
Autumn is about more than golden leaves, backlit by the setting sun. Colder tones play a huge part of the atmosphere of the season and we can see a wonderful contrast of hues in this image. The receding path is a classic composition but allows us to 'feel' autumn, through the imagined sensation of the cool, damp air, as you might find on a morning walk. The image has a wonderful painterly impression too. Very nicely done.

For this round of the competition we wanted to see more than a literal interpretation of the autumn season. This shot demonstrates exactly the qualities we were on the lookout for. Yes we have the saturated reds and yellow, cleverly framed by the window, but it's more of a 'moment' - a setting many of us experience everyday in our own lives, as we stop for a well-earned coffee break. The framing tells us a story, while the processing is nicely understated. Congratulations!

Everyone loves an autumnal landscape scene, but for this round we want you to create images which go beyond the obvious. Capture details up close, people enjoying autumn colour and animals preparing for winter. Surprise us!
Autumn is all about colour! In order to make sure our images have enough impact we need to make sure the colours are being fully represented. This image suffers from a common problem - all that colour can be too much for the camera to handle and it tries to 'correct' the saturated hues. The best method to deal with this is to take full control of the White Balance and choose the "Shade" or "Flash" presets, which will help maintain the strong colour we all love.
