The Lady in Red

I love her expression and confidence in her gesture. Such a proud almost mischievous grin on this little Lady in Red's face. There are some interesting light artifacts/rays from the lower left to the upper right. At an aperture of f/2, I can't tell if it is natural or added in post. Regardless, I like it. It helps support her slightly tilted pose in the frame. I knew this was going to be a top 10 image as soon as I saw it. Beautiful capture! Thanks so much for sharing this image.

This is just a fantastic use of color, and in this particular instance... RED! This is not what I think of when I imagine the Lady in Red, but I like the interpretation, and I absolutely love the photo. I am totally digging the natural gritty textures and shadows surrounding the subject. The treatment used really enhances the light falling on the subject's coat to make it "pop" in the frame. First let me just say thank you to everyone who entered this contest. Secondly, judging this contest was difficult. There were a bunch of quality submissions for this topic. That being said, I chose this image as my winner. The color contrast alone is perfect. Her brilliant red colored outfit pops over the massive, beautifully textured, wall of multiple orange and yellow hues. Adding golden hour light to create amazing warmth and long shadows only strengthens the frame. Finally, add a great smile to add emotion to the image and you have a Lady in Red who is hard to beat. I like it. I think it is an interesting interpretation of the subject. Street photography is definitely a favorite of mine--from a viewer's standpoint. Meaning it is something I would like to get better at doing. Anyway... Composition is perfect here with her red lips placed accurately at the end of the initial visual flow (through a frame), and I absolutely love that it is two frames in one. A powerful photo that makes you think a bit longer before scrolling onto the next. Great work. Thank you for sharing!

I don't think you can pack more charisma into a frame. From her flirtatious expression right down to her cherry red lips and fire engine red hair, she demands the viewer's respect. Beautifully composed frame, capturing just the right amount of shoulder with her chin dipped perfectly within the perimeter of her beautiful curls. Great headshot! Since this image ended up toward the lower end of the rated photos, I feel it deserves a lot more respect and belongs much higher in the ratings. Sure the subject in the photo is flashing an obscene gesture, and her buttocks are exposed, but if you can't look past that and appreciate what is going on here visually... You really shouldn't be rating photos. The image is gritty and a bit rough, but given the environment it is very fitting. The low light and perfect framing give this image a wonderful cinematic feel and fuels the realization that a story is being told here. It is a captured, harmless, debauchery at it's finest and I love it! Thank you for sharing this image with us.

I'm not sure this is what I think of when I ponder the thought of the Lady in Red, but I gotta say... This is an amazing image. The sex appeal radiating of this image... My my my.... A perfectly composed frame with a beautiful balance of color. I really love the treatment surrounding the subject in this photo, but I love the mysterious Lady in Red with the amazing Lady in Red fan in front of her face even more! Wow! This is a most striking photo. I love the gritty texture-loaded location she is in. I also love her expression, that beautiful red dress, those gorgeous legs and that pose... If I were to provide the most minor constructive criticism... To avoid it being hidden from view, I might of had her place her right hand toward the front of the step and let her fingers wrap over the front of the step.
