Things That Start With The Letter 'T'

Up close and personal--that is how I feel when I look at this photo of a tortoise. I love the sharp focus and attention to detail. The number of concentric rings on the carapace, much like the cross-section of a tree, can sometimes give a clue to how old the animal is, and these show quite clearly in your photo. The bright sunlight adds warmth to the shell and provides nice shadow and contrast from within the shell. The green grass provides a welcome pop of color that really makes your tortoise photo stand out. Congratulations on a nice capture!

As was expected, there were many entries of trees in this contest. But no other photographer took on a task as difficult as yours. Congratulations on accomplishing the seemingly impossible task of capturing a photo of a massive tree and not only showing its size, but highlighting its natural beauty as well. The composition, which grazes the tops of neighboring trees, shows just how big this giant sequoia really is, as do the people at the foot of the trunk. The blurred and muted background contrasts nicely with the rich coloring of the broad trunk. You can visualize the tree soaring skyward until it disappears into the clouds. Great job!
