Tombstones

This came so close to winning. I'm sorry to only place it 2nd. The metallic hues that go from the cliff face to the darker sky is wonderful, then the sence of illumination on the crosses as the light hits them is not accidental but the photographer has carefully made this arrangement and fully understands the quality of light that elevates a photograph from something very good to the spectacular. Fantatsic well done and on any other day a worthy winner.

This abstart photograph really did stand out from the crowd. The beautiful detailed highlights in the foregraound and the white cross work perfectly against the darkened tombstones in the background. The exposure is perfect as is the composition that really leads the eye into scene. A dark brooding image that works incredible well. A striking photograph that deserves its high placement.

A truly stunning image that is a worthy winner. The standard of the competition was incredibly high and this photograph did stand out. It's beautifully layered from the headstones in the foreground to the off centre builings that add that incredible burst of colour to the darkened mountain and sky in the background. The exposure is spot on as are the formal arrangements. This would grace many themed competitions from landcapes to colour work. A lovely photograph that I would be proud to hang on my wall. Well done.
