An irresistible set of conditions in a ideal location. The photographer has captured every piece of of this magical scene, with a panoramic effect that gives shape and depth to the buildings that a single wide angle shot would not achieve. The mirror finish on the water compounds this effect and gives the buildings a feeling of floating in the sky. A truly well composed and exposed image. Amazing!
The inclusion of the coin operated binoculars as the main point of focus does a great job of putting the viewer on the observation deck overlooking the city. The circle of red forces them to read the message and contemplate a deeper meaning to it. The Empire State Building is easily recognisable, even with the defocused narrow depth of field. Leading the mind back to wonder at the meaning of the message in red! There is an atmospheric haze that decreases the contrast towards the distance, creating a depth to the jumble of city buildings. A wonderfully memorable photo!
While the actual amount of pixels the cityscape takes up in this frame is quite low, the way it is framed and the depth of field used has made it immediately stand out. The close to camera blurred branches provide the viewer with a sense of revealing and discovering of a secret spot. The darker warm colours of the trees accentuate the window of cooler brightly lit city, sky, and water. A well considered and constructed photo.
A expertly taken photo with a perfect use of long exposure to soften details in some areas and draw attention to those that are more important. The aging facades of Venetian buildings stand out beautifully along the smooth surface of the canal. The ghost of a moving boat leads the eye in a curving path towards the warm glowing sunrise. The slight blur in the clouds adds a sense of dynamic motion to the sky. A wonderful colour palette, fitting of the location. Magnificent work!
The play of warm and cool colours throughout the image adds a unique flavour to this iconic city skyline. The taller buildings in the middle of the frame provide a strong central weighting to the shot. The compressed perspective give the Stature of Liberty an extra sense of presence in the city. The statue itself has just enough extra exposure to stand out against the details of the city. A wonderful shot of New York!
You've done a great job to capture the essence and history of the town. The signature English rooftops in the foreground and the hallmarks of the industrial revolution in the background. The black and white treatment works well here with the haze/pollution in the distance adding separation between the two scenes. The windows reflecting the sky stand out against the aging and detailed tile roofs and the mill looms over everything in the town. An excellent choice of subject matter and good composition. Well done!
A wonderfully golden image in texture, subject matter and lighting. A great photographic display of the wealth the city expresses with everything it does. The use of the metal curved structure to frame the viewers attention towards the city is in itself a stand out feature. The light from the sky gives everything a gilded look. A thoughtfully composed and exposed image that is very fitting for the Dubai city skyline.
Such a serendipitous moment, gratefully captured and shared for everyone to see. An interesting and captivating way of showing the city itself, with a easily identifiable landmark, and an abstract expression of the people within. The brightly lit colour of Tokyo Tower keeps the eye returning to the centre of the image while the reflected silhouettes of the people appear like players on a city stage. Fantastic shot!
A very punchy photo that expresses the location well. The lighting and tones accentuate the building materials superbly. Although the main feature of the tower is centred in the frame, the weight of the subject matter is balanced towards the left due to the repeating nature of the brick wall. Keeping the aspect ratio and pulling in the crop from the bottom right until the extra wall is cropped out would rebalance the scene without changing the initial impact and feel. Great work!
You've done a great job here to capture all the elements of a fantastic photo. There are so many little details to explore of the crowds blurred motion on the waters edge giving a wonderful sense of life and movement. The lighting on the buildings is good too, combined with the softened water makes the details really pop. My only suggestions are to crop out the bottom stone and maybe add a little more contrast/brightness to the scene. Everything else is working great!
A bright and colourful photo with a dreamy and surreal aspect. The early morning light bathing the stone buildings in warmth, with hot air balloons rising like bubbles from the heat of the sun. The closer hot air balloon on the left appears to be coming out of the ground itself, giving the impression that all the balloons have risen randomly from all over the town with the rising sun. Who wouldn't see this photo and want to visit this amazing location? Great work!
A wonderfully impactful photo with an almost portraiture style feel to the lit up buildings, giving them a personality of their own. The time of day of just after sunset (or before sunrise) allows for the artificial light to dominate the buildings and accentuate details, while the sky provides a refreshing uplifting colour to contrast against the harsher concrete structures. A beautiful display of light, colour and texture that the city should be proud of.

Many hands have their say in the profile of a town or city’s skyline. Buildings built over many years each add their own element to the view across the rooftops, and that profile can often be extremely distinctive, especially when a signature building or tower is present. Who would have difficulty identifying Paris with the Eiffel Tower on display, or New York with the Empire State Building? But urban skylines of ALL shapes and sizes are invited in this contest.

Absolutely magical light bathing the seaside town of Cavtat. Who would want to go to the more well known Dubrovnik when a photo like this exists. Everything is well positioned in the scene, from the balance of brightly lit buildings and the glowing sky, to the curving foreground and distant mountains holding everything in. A beautifully composed and treated image.
An uncomplicated set of conditions, a simple sky, bright light, and no movement. Probably one of the hardest set of circumstances to take an eye catching and intriguing photo. Here the chaos of the jumbled stone buildings is set against a bright soft sky with a scattering hint of blue. The central tower lifts the eye up into the image and allows it to fall back down to search through all the details below. A captivating image that shows the right composition and exposure is so important when it comes to day time landscape/cityscape photography.
A wonderful celebration of light and colour in a well composed photo. One of the first elements that caught my eye was the close matching colour of the sunlit clouds in the top left with the yellow peachy building in the bottom right. I then could see all the other colours in the buildings and how they would match the colours of the sea and sky at various times. From a technical point of view, the viewers eye is lead along the buildings towards the cliff and distant mountain, then into the contrast of boats against the reflective harbour water. A beautiful representation of the character and splendour of the town.
