This is another one of those photos that instantly caught me eye. It tells a story and tells that story at a very different angle than we normally see. The low vantage point, along with the depth of field really help to bring people in to see exactly what you want them to see. The hand and the light on it, along with the darker tones of the person's near-silhouetted body help move people across the image at an angle and view that we normally would never see.

Wow! Really strong photo. The depth of field and camera settings that you chose here really work for the image. The composition is great - love the way it leads me in to the photo. The light is also really nice. I love the way it's not harsh and very soft coming in from the top and sides of the photo. The concentration of the boys really helps add to the image and I like that the concentration is broken in the third boy which helps to change the pattern in the picture and really keeps you looking.

One word describes this image to me: Stunning! This is the combination of so many important factors in photography. Light, great subjects, timing, weather, and composition. The way that the soft warm light works on the trees, along with the reflection in the water really helps make this photo work. But my favourite part is how the warm tones of the sun interact with the cooler tones of the sky and water. When you put that together you have a great recipe for a winning photograph.

This is a photo that just grabbed me right from the beginning as soon as I looked at it. I've seen many dog-sled photos before, but this really makes you feel like you're there. But not on the actual sled, it makes you feel like you're right there running with the dogs. The composition is low angle, and the way you lead me through the photo just makes me keep looking at it. Plus, the choice of the backlit dogs with that great rim-light around them really helps separate this photo from the rest.

Silhouettes can be incredibly powerful images and I think this is a great example. Not only do you have the silhouette of the man rowing the boat, but the birds really help the photo as well. The atmosphere really fits the photo too. And the light on the raft helps to make the image look more interesting. Nice job in capturing a great moment, along with the composition of the really interesting background, good subjects, and interesting reflection in the foreground.

They say that light is everything in a photo and this photo is one of the best examples of that. The lighting on the boy as well as expression really help make this photo stand out. The contrast of the natural light along with the dark background help him stand out. It's not easy to find moments like these and then know exactly how to capture them, but I think you did a really great job here with this photo. Well done!

Capturing the right moment can be everything when it comes to photography and this does exactly that. The moment along with the motion in the water makes this photo into something that instantly stops you when you see it among others. Couple that with the expression on their faces. Expression is such a key element here. You've brought these boys, and their fun times directly to the viewer in a way that not only looks great, but works with so many key areas of photography like composition, sharpness, motion, and great light.

This photo tells such a great story of journey. But what I really like about it is that it has so many other great qualities that make it stand out. The contrast of the man in white, with the dark camels behind him really make him stand out. The expression on his face is so important. Especially with travel photos, it's hard to get that thoughtful expression. All to often we see people that almost look mad or have a blank look on their face - but he looks deep in thought about his journey and that really helps here. And the lighting is great. I like the warm side light that illuminates him and everything else in the photo, and it really helps to give a sense of depth to the image.

This is a really nice travel photo. I SOOO wanted to pick it higher in my list, but there's just a couple of things holding it back to me. First, the good stuff: I think the subject is great. Awesome composition, and great way to lead me in to the photo. I also like that you included the sky here. I do wish it was cropped in tighter. You can barely notice the person in the bottom left and I think that's what really makes this photo interesting. The scale and inclusion of people in an otherwise empty lifeless photo means a lot. But right now they're just so small you almost miss them in the shot. Again, great photo. Very well done overall.

I have to commend you on having the eye to see this image. It captures a happiness about the people in the photo in a really interesting way. Honestly, I'm always slightly jealous when I see photos in ways like this because I don't see the world like this and I probably would have never seen this shot. My only thought on it not making it further in the judging process is that, well, honestly it's an odd area of the Elephant to show off :-) Having people in this particular part of the elephant looks a bit odd and when it comes down to it, one of the big showcase areas that's having attention drawn to it is the elephants bottom which really draws attention away from the focal point I think you wanted to get across.

This is a really nice photo. Beautiful subject. The dress is extremely interesting and the colours work so well here. I love the background and how it subtly goes out of focus behind here. I also love the composition where she's placed in a very key area in the photo. The only comment I have here is about the expression. She's not engaged with the photo. Now, that's not always a "must have", but if the person isn't engaged with the photo, then they need to be doing something interesting that engages "us" with the photo. But the child here isn't and it pulls the engagement with what's going on here away just a bit because of it. Nice shot though!

It's always nice to see a different view of the tower and I think you captured one here. The flowers in the foreground really lead you toward the tower in the background. I have two small suggestions that would help take this photo from good to great I think. 1) Time of day - shooting closer to sunrise or sunset would really add some more pleasing light. 2) Try to seek out some different areas of flowers in the foreground. The colourful flowers blooming are more interesting, and you've included too much of the green flowers which don't tend to be as captivating. Nice photo!

There's a lot of great things happening here with this photo. You've got a nice composition. The waterfall really takes a dominant role here and draws us in. But once we're there, we see the people in the lower right side and that helps to show the scale of the waterfall. My only thought on improving is the waterfall seems so muted in color and contrast. It may have been the weather conditions and that's not always possible to change, but I think a little darkening and contrast in post processing could help. It's such a powerful part of the image, I think you should draw more attention to it. Very nice photo though!

There's something about this travel photo that keeps me coming back to look at it. One of the very first things that caught my eye is the light. It's such a key element to a photo and I think you captured some great light here. Not just the colour, but the shapes that the light give - the long shadows that are cast by the people and objects in the photo. You've also captured the essence of a busy city/market/central area. That busy feeling, coupled with the moment you've captured of everyone walking and moving about, and the light that brings it all together make this a really compelling shot.

This is a really nice waterfall photo. Technically you've captured the water and used a long shutter speed to get the motion in the water. You've also taken this at a great time of year - the fall colors really pop. And I love that you included foreground. So often, we see photos that don't include any foreground and it's hard to put the viewer in the photo when they don't have that reference. If I could change one thing about the photo, I would have loved to see more of the top of the waterfall. It's cut off at the very top and seeing that area I feel is a key part of the composition. I'd either have liked you to cut the waterfall off halfway, and just show the bottom with your foreground, or show more of the upper area and less of the foreground so that we could see it all. Really nice fall colour photo though!
