What an eye-catching shot! Any angle which makes us see a subject in a new way is an effective one and this top-down perspective certainly does the trick. We love the colour theme too and the way the material looks like smoke or dye in a tank of water - the exposure and angle makes great use of its fluidic-like properties. Very well seen, with a great narrative to it. Well done.

When it comes to travel imagery the most successful ones are those which make the viewer feel as if they are in the scene themselves, that they know the location and are getting an insight into what it is like to like as a local. This shot puts us right there in the scene, balancing photo parameters nicely to give a realistic, immersive experience.

You don’t need to travel far to capture amazing stories, and this round we want entries which capture the atmosphere of a location. Whether it’s colourful architecture, interesting people living their lives, or the energy of an urban night, focus on capturing the emotion of a place.

This is a very well-photographed perspective on the city of Venice. However the use of longer exposure, combined with the ideal placement of the tower and subtle tonality pull together to produce a restful shot with bags of atmosphere. As with all good travel images it makes us want to jet off in search of new scenes to explore.

We love the atmosphere here. The colour and exposure work together to create a moody, cinematic and painterly scene, which oozes intrigue and story. We might not be able to tell exactly what is happening in the background of the shot, but the framing makes us want to know more, drawing us in. Very well captured.

This is a mind bending shot! The sense of scale takes centre stage and the choice of composition makes great use of the lone figure. The muted colour palette creates a 2-D feel but this is broken up by the main subject, adding much-needed depth. A wonderful adventure images, which makes us want to explore whatever is alone the track, out of frame.

We love the colour and light of this shot. Backlighting is a wonderful tool, but can be a challenge to work with. The photographer has balanced light and shadow so as to avoid deep silhouettes while maintaining enough intensity to give the seen the contrast it needs. Well spotted!

What an energetic scene! Sunsets played a big role in this round of the contest but it was those with a strong subject which performed the best. Here the setting sun is not the main subject of the shot, it merely sets the scene and provides a stunning background to the intriguing figures.

This is a quiet, contemplative scene captured beautifully by the photographer. The colour, light and subject placement give the impression we are witnessing a private moment and has a wonderful narrative quality. It really does feel like we have the entire landscape to ourselves and transports us to somewhere we might otherwise never be able visit ourselves. Nicely done.

The colour and contrast of this shot is what stood out to us. This is a classic travel image. but is captured in such a way as to make us want to know more about these people and the environment in which they live. It's a posed shot, but the framing and timing of the balanced exposure conveys the feeling that we are witnessing a spacial moment. Well captured.

What stood out in this shot was the graphical properties. The choice of exposure has made great use of silhouettes, making the light and shadow draw around the important elements. The composition also creates a mirror-like symmetry, which channels our eye to the focal point. Nicely timed and captured.
