Trees

February 2022

The silhouette of this distinctive tree really made this image stand out to me. The grasses in the foreground lead you into the image and the lovely gradient of colour in the sky as the sun sets compliments this image perfectly.

It wasn't until I looked at this image more closely that I noticed the road sign. I doesn't deter from the fact that this is a superb photograph, in fact is adds an element of interest that makes the viewer look more intently to realise that there is actually a road hidden in the image is in my opinion really clever.

I would have been very tempted to edit the sign out, but actually I think adds an element of interest that makes you look and think.

The monochrome conversion of this image works beautifully well with this mystical woodland scene.

The misty light pushing through he trees lighting the foreground really caught my eye. My only criticism is that the trees on the left are a slight distraction. A crop from the left ensuring the image has a frame would finish this image off perfectly.

I love the simplicity of this image, the way the photographer has placed the tree as the central focal point while chaos looms from the stormy sky above.

A lovely atmospheric capture using the silhouetted tree to draw you right into the image. Well done!

There's something very appealing about an upward view of tall trees. The reason why I like this image so much is because the photographer has captured the trees in a lovely soft light that has created some nice shadow and enhances the colours in the trees.

What makes it work so well is the backdrop of the lovely blue sky which compliments the colours in this image. Well done!

What a beautiful Winter scene this is. I love how the photographer has captured the moving snow storm and kept the trees in the foreground as the focal point so they stand out and draw you into the image. Well done on such a lovely capture!

This simplicity of this composition is what caught my attention with this image. I love how the photographer has used the tree as the main focus and made the best use of the misty conditions to soften the background to create this wonderful scene.

Simplicity is key here with this lovely capture. The lead in Iines draw you to the main focus and the shadows in the landscape keep this photo minimal but add the perfect amount of detail. Less is definitely more.

My only criticism is that I feel the tree needs more contrast so it stands out better against the soft nature and light of the landscape.

There's something ethereal and magical about a misty woodland image. This image is a perfect example of just that! I love how the photographer has used the acute angle of the trees to create this enchanting scene and the tones compliment the scene giving the image a dreamy feel. Congratulations!!

What a beautiful yet simple capture of this stunning silver birch.

I love the way the tree stands in the bleak landscape windswept from the Wintery weather, yet it retains it's naked beauty. Also incorporating the birds into the scene is a lovely added touch.

I've seen many images of the Dark Hedges however this one is one of the best! For me it's the way the photographer has mainly focused on the tree's and incorporated just enough colour to not distract you from the magnificence of this beautiful scene.

I just love the artistic processing in this image, it gives the photograph a painterly look that works so well.

Blending the images together in this way gives this a dreamy artistic feel that I love. There's so much detail in this simplistic composition and that's why it's in my top ten.

Well done!

I'm not bothered that this is a composite image. The simplicity and combination of these images works incredibly well giving the image it's strong impact.

The composition and use of lighting are what make this image so profound and impressive. Congratulations!

I love this dreamy scene which has been cleverly captured by the photographer. The reflections of the trees in the still water and the cloudy surround give a dreamlike peaceful feel.

Well done on such a distinctive but simple capture!!

There's something eerie and mysterious about ancient forests, especially in misty conditions like these. Dartmoor is one of my favourite places for this exact reason.

This image depicts the mystery and curious nature of Dartmoor that I love.

What an enigmatic photograph, well done!

Trees put on a real display at this time of year, as the leaves brown and fall, and reveal the skeletons beneath. But all year round they have a story to tell. We’re becoming ever more aware of their crucial role in maintaining the health of the planet, and they also just happen to be beautiful, varied, and a joy to photograph. Any images of trees are welcome, from studies of leaves and bark, to wide, tree-dotted vistas.
