This truly cross-genre theme allows us to explore what can happen when we shoot pairs of similar objects, people, animals, trees, rocks… you get the picture!
Whilst quite stark, I really like the way it's such a calming image. Because of the highlighted and possibly overcast sky, the water is almost featureless. This ensures the viewer's attention is solely centred on the boats themselves. The use of black and white strips away any distractions that may have been introduced with colour in the boats themselves.
There's a lot I really like about this image. The colours, the composition and the mood especially. I also like the fact that the competition theme can be found in a number of element within the image. The mobile beach huts, the two groups of loungers, and the two people at the centre of the image. An extremely well executed image.
Very poor image quality, with a distinct lack of detail. The leaves have also become blocky. It's possible the lack of detail is down to the image originally having noise, and the noise reduction procedure has caused smearing. Or it may be created by a very small sensor (phone etc), and hand movement.
I find this particular image rather intriguing. I like the detail within the moss and the frogs themselves. I also like the way the reflection is crystal clear, and the still water induces an infinity pool effect, with the background lost, serving to have the viewers attention solely directed to the two frogs. Excellent!
