I found this image quite arresting, even at first glance. The look of the boys is very intense, and immediately takes the attention of the viewer. The overall subdued colours of the image is offset by the fire itself. Beautifully observed, composed and exposed. Congratulations!

Beautifully composed, with the subtle colours barely showing it to be a colour image, rather than a black and white. I really like the fall off of light, creating a the much darker edge, which make it edgeless on a black screen. Well observed and captured.

This truly cross-genre theme allows us to explore what can happen when we shoot pairs of similar objects, people, animals, trees, rocks… you get the picture!

I really like the the composition and colours of this image. The overall early morning cold feel, that's being lifted by the sunrise. Excellent use of a long exposure to blur the water and cloud movement. It has a beautiful ethereal feel to it.

For such a simple subject, I really like the way this has been composed, captured and edited. I like the use of the depth of field to isolate the two pawns. The bokeh especially adds to t he mood and warmth of the image.

It took a little while for me to recognise the fact it was a single subject, shot on water. The lack of edge to t he water adds to the illusion of infinity. I love the pastel colours, and the detail. Really nicely composed and exposed.

Image quality (detail especially) is very poor. Composition is good, as is the subject choice. The point of focus is beyond the subject, as indicated by the stone in the background, above the otters. The overall tone is also rather flat, with a lot of sensor noise being visible in the otter's coats

I really like the ethereal feel to this image. Especially as the colours are muted, and of a similar tone. The mist gives it a nice dreamy look, with the two central characters drawing the eye nicely. Nicely composed with the two travellers framed by the trees. Excellent!

I like the amount of detail captured here, with the depth of field helping to lift the birds from the background. Nice use of natural light too, adding to t he texture, and assisting with the detail captured. Excellent work, with thought given to the composition.

Whilst quite stark, I really like the way it's such a calming image. Because of the highlighted and possibly overcast sky, the water is almost featureless. This ensures the viewer's attention is solely centred on the boats themselves. The use of black and white strips away any distractions that may have been introduced with colour in the boats themselves.

There's a lot I really like about this image. The colours, the composition and the mood especially. I also like the fact that the competition theme can be found in a number of element within the image. The mobile beach huts, the two groups of loungers, and the two people at the centre of the image. An extremely well executed image.

I love the detail and clarity within this image. The colour range throughout the image, helps to provide a warm feel to the image, irrespective of the water drops. The use of a shallow depth of field works extremely well to isolate the main subjects, and draw the eye of the viewer.

Beautifully lit, with a great deal of thought given to the light placement, therefore giving excellent texture, shape and form to t he subjects. The catchlights would be particularly difficult to achieve, but manage really, really well. The post processing has given the image a nice painterly feel.

Very poor image quality, with a distinct lack of detail. The leaves have also become blocky. It's possible the lack of detail is down to the image originally having noise, and the noise reduction procedure has caused smearing. Or it may be created by a very small sensor (phone etc), and hand movement.

I find this particular image rather intriguing. I like the detail within the moss and the frogs themselves. I also like the way the reflection is crystal clear, and the still water induces an infinity pool effect, with the background lost, serving to have the viewers attention solely directed to the two frogs. Excellent!
