Vintage Objects in Still Life

I love everything about this photo! It is a beautiful collage of some of my favorite vintage items: photos and handwritten letters and postcards. This still life looks like a page from a scrapbook made for a travel journal. The layout is well composed and I like the angle the photographer decided to use to capture it. Well done!

Oh my heart! I have two of these antique sewing machines, and I am drawn like a magnet every time I see one. This photo has a lovely composition with the bold and beautiful machine sitting front and center, accentuated by the light-colored floral wallpaper. The tools, oil can and fabric under the needle make this still life a true-to-life scene. Well done!

I collect vintage cameras, and would love to have one like this in my collection! Aside from the camera, this image won me over for its asymmetrical composition and shadowy background. I am particularly impressed with the small plume of smoke rising from the candle. Well done on capturing that beautiful detail before it disappeared!

When I chose this photo for the contest, it represented the type of image I had in my head for the contest idea. And out of all the wonderful images entered, this one remained first for me. All of the items are placed strategically, creating a beautiful still life that is balanced and softened by the bouquet of dried roses. Congratulations for the winning image!

A well-composed still life reminding us of days gone by. The overall subject is well balanced in a central grouping, and the colors faded just enough to mimic the bygone era it represents. I especially like that the eyes of the man in the photo are making eye contact with the camera, giving it a personable feel. The dried roses and scarf add age and softness to the scene. Well done!
