Windows

June 2025

I just love this image. Great colours behind the windscreen that work well because they are so out of focus they aren't objects any more. It makes the image. The bubbles dripping down the back windscreen give an interesting pattern that is almost juxtaposed against the straight, parallel lines dividing up the image. The wavily line and dots at the bottom add a great base to the whole frame. Simple yet really effective. Well spotted.

Lovely striking image. The pose looks natural and not forced which is great. I really like the strong contrast you have got between the outside light and the pure black walls of inside. The image works really well in black and white as colours might easily have distracted from the backwards L shape of light. My only suggestion would be to move the window slightly more to the right (so that it is off the centre line of the frame) and you see more of the light fading away on the floor... unless there was something to the left of the frame you needed to avoid of course!

I love this image so much. It would make a great poster. There were lots of photos entered in the competition showing a block of flats' windows (and I love images like those) but this one really stood out. Yours was the only one with a clean, crisp white wall and shadows. The delicate fine lines of the aerials, washing lines and their shadows create a lovely layer of additional interest which sits well with the clothing and simple black window frames. It would have been even better if, in one window, there was a person or a cat peering out but otherwise I think this is great.
