Wine Culture Around the World

The idea in the shot is communicated nicely. Cutting, filling, and resealing the bottle, with the cut off bottom also served with grapes. Grapes comming out of the bottle (or going in, to become wine). Simply and subtly lit – I’d say your experiment came off very well!

The subdued white light tracing the glass and bottle's curves, the deep red tint more hinted than glaring in the glass, and the sheer simplicity of the shot made this stand out. Experimentation with light and composition paid off! Well done!

I thought this was a striking and pleasing composition with enough life to make it interesting. The light is golden, subdued and tapers off nicely. The coffee beans I first took for chocholate, but that is perhaps a reflection of my taste! Good experiment, keep it up!

Came back to this several times. The black and white except the wine. The posture, even though the subject looked to centered for my initial taste. The loneliness that this portrays, sitting in what looks like the outskirts of something happening. A picture of our time with social distancing, and yerning for social life. Nicely captured.

The composition is thight and the placement within the frame is appealing. The light quality is well matched to the lit candle. The candle light itself might need a little more work, but over all the picture came out very nicely. Well done!

The stark black and white, the mix of light and dark and the attention to detail makes this a striking image. But it it not mathematically perfect, the flowing organic lines of the lower third breaks this up nicely. The background hits of music and social life, bringing in the social aspects of wine culture. Well done!

Wine tasting. A tight and straightforward composition. Starkly but not harshly lit. It brings forth nicely a part of wine culture that ends up as wine store selections and wine reviews. The simplicity of this shot is perhaps its greatest asset. Well done!

Looked at this image several times, and see a reflection of the current 2020 times of the Covid 19 pandemic and our struggle to remain in some degree social. This is close to a news shot of a small gathering with the waiter and those seen around wearing masks. Well captured!

The most social of all the pictures submitted, indeed wine culture at work! The light is warm, and the setting in a wine cellar sets the stage for a social life that we can only hope to see again in a few months. The picture appears somewhat tilted, something that, in my view, kept it from placing even higher. But still a very creditable picture!
