Zigzag

I thought this image illustrated the contest theme rather well with its subtle collection of zigzag lines and strands. Getting in close eliminates distractions and highlights the details of the textures and colours. It is a good example of a photographer having the ability to 'see'. Congratulations on gaining 8th place in the contest.

Some people may struggle, at least intitally, to see the zigzag in this image but it didn't escape you. What really makes the image stand out is the way you have used and captured the light. The subtle differences in the light empahise the variations in the landform and the zigzag. Congratulations on gaining 10th place in the contest.

Congratulations on winning the zigzag contest. This was a very skillfully composed image making use of the zigzag motif to represent a zip whilst also incorporating the zigzag around the pencils from the sharpening. You used colour theory to tie the image together very well so that the colours have an impact without overwhelming the image. Using readily available materials you have created a compelling image and one that would look good on a gallery wall. Congratulations once again.

There were a number of road related entries in the contest but I felt that this one had the most skilful incorporation of the zigzag into the overall image. Using it as part of the leading line draws the eye through the zigzag and ultimately into the distant parts of the gorge very effectively. The natural light has also been carefully controlled so as not to create any harsh highlights or deep shadows. Congratulations on gaining 7th place in the contest.

A wonderfully creative composite with subtle but compelling use of zigzag themes in the chair fabric but also the girders of the bridge. Adding the teddy bear and the monkey brings an otherwise potentially static scene to life and adds a nice humourous element. A very effective image using simple and readily available materials. I liked the lighting which emphasises the zigzag of the wooden ruler without overwhelming it but is strong enough to also give a partial reflection. A very creative surreal composite with great use of a zigzag theme as the principal ement. Adding the figures and the roadsign are a great attention to detail that bring the image alive.
