A Cause

This is photo is "simple" in the best way. I felt it deserved to be commended because of the care that went into it. Its presented in a way that conveys how proud you are of your cause. The photo tells what the cause is and by the objects displayed, it is clear that you will be in a race. I like how you thoughtfully placed everything that you would need. Nice job Samantha! All the best and the hope 5k went well!

When people decide to champion "a cause" they can show it in many ways. A lot of times subdued or shown in melodramatic way because they want there cause to be taken seriously. This image is done in a completely opposite way but does nothing to make there cause any less important. Highly creative and worthy of being commended. Glad you entered this in the contest Ruth!

I want you to show me your photos of a cause. It can be one that is important to you such as a charity, or causes that you would like to recognize. The name of the cause must appear somewhere in your photo but how you choose to accomplish this is up to you. I hope you enjoy the contest.

This image was very powerful for me because it left me wanting to "know what she said". You know exactly what she is speaking of because "the cause" is written clearly on her bullhorn. The hand on her chest, tells you only that she is passionate about what she is saying. The colors are just as an important as well. Had the color not been so diverse and vibrant I do not think the picture would have read the same way. It made me want to continue staring far past when I thought I had stared enough. Congratulations Christian on being my 3rd pick!

This image really delivers on all levels of how I wanted “a cause” to be highlighted. The filter used was so effective. Every part of the image is raw with emotion. I love how the picture was taken from the front. Not the easiest shot to get, but feels absolutely necessary. As if the people are looking right at you wanting you to take up the cause with them. They display a confidence and assurance that is very convincing. I also was impressed by the different signs displayed. There is a “blood” soaked tear running down the dolphins face in one poster. In another, there is a “blood” hand drawn. It skillfully eludes to the conclusion that all those responsible have “blood on their hands.” Absolutely riveting! Congratulations on being my #1 J.A. Philips Well deserved!

I looked at this and all I saw is how sorrowful this "cause" was for this woman. She knows its necessary but she seems to regret that it has to be so. Her eyes are cast down, and except for the occasional white in her ensemble, from head to toe she is in black. I'm glad you chose to have the photo in b&w. The mask displays the "cause" but its presence does more than that. There is nothing happy about the mood she displays and the mask further contributes to that conclusion. Well done Nigel! Congratulation on being part of my top 10!

I love this photo for the irony it presents. For "the cause" that is being represented, it shows through color that there is a barrier that exist between the police officer and those protesting. However, there is no barrier in that she agrees with the cause because she is actively participating in it. To me it says: Yes...I wear this uniform and yes this is my chosen profession but that does not mean that I can't agree with what you are saying . Do not judge me by my uniform but as an individual. I love it. Well done Becki and congratulation on being in my top 10!

This originally was not going to be in my top ten. I looked at the photo and there was nothing particularly alluring about it. Yes... the cause was certainly clear but beyond that it did little else to command my attention. We often go for what catches our eye first and then zero in on other parts afterwards. I looked at the photo without even pondering more on "the cause". The one requirement of my contest and I was ignoring it. This is in my top ten because the nature of "the cause" can extend to any type of injustice universally. "The cause" itself is presenting a challenge to not only those who saw it on that day but view the photo itself. To me it says, if you stand by and watch an injustice being done and do nothing because it doesn't affect you, then you become complicit in it. Thank you for entering this in the contest Rob CK and congratulation on rounding out my top 10!

I looked at this photo and really liked it but I didn't know why at first. I did not read the accompanying synopsis to know about the photos intention. I wanted, first to study the photo to gather what I thought the intention might be. I realized that out of all the images I have seen this one makes "the cause" appear to be a successful one. I was happy that I shared the same feelings as you when I read about why you took the photo. It's almost as if people read it and decided it was "a cause" worth following. Making the message the only color in the photo was smartly done. It strongly reinforces the message throughout the rest of the photo. Everything else being in black and white shouts still life. Which if you read the message you know that is what you want to happen. There are no people, no cars, in short no activity present, except this colorful plea posted inside of a bus stop. Loved it!. Congratulations visualtheatrics on making my top 10, for the second time, in this contest!

This photo is in my top 10 because I love "the cause" energy. This was another photo where you don't have to have much context to know what is going on. This is a celebration. You have people on the ground ecstatic to be in front of their champions. You have champions proud to share this moment with there fans. Confetti and smoke wake up the photo. The fan sitting atop the crowd with his hands raised is integral to the success of the image too. He acts as the connection between the fans on the ground and their champions. His arms outstretched in adoration of what they have accomplished. Glad to have you as one on my top 10 visualtheatrics....well done!
