Great contest!

This image of an isolated runner on top of the crags inspires me to venture out more, to experience the peaks and their views for myself again. The (typically) ominous clouds do not deter the runner, although their presence may hasten the pace to avoid a potential drenching. This caught my imagination, as any good image should. Well done for an excellent capture and congratulations on gaining my second choice in "A Spirit of Adventure" contest!

I love the way these cyclists are strung-out to form a leading line into the distance. Adventures do not need to be dangerous or solo experiences. Indeed, there is much to be said for going as a group, to share the experience, just as this image has done for me.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this “Spirit of Adventure” contest. Such a variety of exciting images made it a rewarding experience to judge and I commend everyone to browse the entries.

I love the glorious colour of the dunes in this spectacular image. The low sunlight picks out the wonderful textures in the sand and reveals the winding line taken by the intrepid walkers. How much time do they have before sunset and where are they headed? Congratulations on gaining my first choice. Frame it and put it on your wall!

This is a strong image. The hint of colour provides a feeling of the weather ahead. I can imagine that there could be a considerable descent to be tackled in uncertain circumstances. Thank you for sharing this exciting image in my “A Spirit of Adventure” contest.

Black and white brings out the contrast in the snow and has added to the atmosphere here. The assumed objective for this group of climbers is the mysterious peak in the distance, encouraging the viewer to consider their route ahead. I am encouraged to join them in their exploration, but without having to endure the foothills first.

A night-time shot with colour! I like the colours in the sky and how they blend with the lights on the quad bikes as they traverse the sands of a flat plain. The horizon beckons, without revealing what might be there. A true “Spirit of Adventure”, well captured and shared.

The angle of this shot helps emphasise the action and thrill of this moment whilst the facial expression is ‘icing on the cake’. Your GoPro has captured an amazing amount of detail to study in this eye-catching image. A more imaginative title is the only improvement I could possibly suggest. I trust that you landed as cheerfully and that gaining a Top Ten position in my “A Spirit of Adventure” contest puts that smile firmly back on your face!

This image captures a climber anticipating their next move, with the ultimate objective just in sight. It allows the viewer to almost take part in the thrill of conquering the rock face but without the danger of a fall. Photography can be used to share experiences without the need for the viewer to actually take part. This is an excellent example and should encourage others to push their own boundaries.

I love the sweeping ridge that these climbing groups are following. It provides a wonderful leading line that conveys the eye around the whole scene. If I had the skills to do so and was not averse to changing the content, I’d try to remove the second group as I feel that they distract from the higher one and their route to the top.

I am fascinated by the angle of the tow-line in this shot – it seems to be contrary to my understanding of Physics – but that seems often the case when shooting feats of gymnastics. There is so much action here, and I love the look of concentration on the boarder’s face (in my case it would be fear). I feel that the framing might be improved, but you don’t get time to think of everything when shooting something like this. Well captured, and thanks for sharing it in my “A Spirit of Adventure” contest.
