Adhesives

What a varied collection of adhesives! You have not gained ‘points’ for the variety or quantity of adhesives but for the pun in the title and the Scrabble tiles. These have added value to the image, to help it stand out from the crowd. Well done!

This is an interesting collection of materials, documenting the requirements for making some kind of puppet. The choice of colours help to get it noticed, whist the prime subject remains ‘centre-stage’ to remain clearly on brief. The arrangement is well thought out and could only be improved by an equally imaginative title to reinforce the story being told.

This is a nicely proportioned image of a tube of glue, enhanced by the bright colour combination chosen by the glue-maker to draw attention to their product. But you have not just capitalised on the colours employed: by removing the top and allowing some glue to ooze out, you have created more interest to what would otherwise just be a pleasing arrangement.

I love the simplicity of this winning shot. The colour tones go well together and the image is nicely focused. Having caught my eye, I am drawn to study the ‘sticky’ bits and admire the implied tension of the glue. This was a well-considered shot, meeting the brief and displaying photographic skill. Well done!

I commend this image for its originality. Life’s too short for the obvious and I’d like to encourage original ideas like this. Thank you for looking “outside the box” for a solution for this contest. Sometimes whacky ideas work and this one made me smile... After all, what else could this kind of adhesive be intended for??

I appreciate those who go the extra mile to create something specific for a contest. I found this composite image rather amusing, although I have come to recognise the character in the middle and wonder if, by doing so, my judgement has become partial. Even so, I’d still like to encourage such imaginative work and the injection of humour where the subject might otherwise become dry and repetitive. Composites can be time-consuming to complete so I can appreciate that there comes a time to stop. For me, however, I’d like to have seen the drops being deflected from their downward passage after striking the umbrella. Never-the-less this is an imaginative piece of work and deserves recognition.

I love the simple humour of this shot. The brief for this contest did not ask for contributors to stick to a documentary style of photograph. Instead, the you have found a way to use adhesive to produce an original shot with a funny title.

When stuck with a challenging subject, it can be difficult to find a solution that might stand out from the obvious. Rather than stand out, this one has fallen over, and provide some light relief in the title. I cannot tell if this is a composite, using just one stick of glue, because value has been added adjusting each one slightly to add interest. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to produce this original image.

It’s not easy to make such a mundane subject stand out, but you have done well to achieve that with this simple image. The ‘business end’ (the nozzle and glue drop) are nicely focussed and the image is lifted by the reflected glow of the tube. I hope no surfaces were harmed in the production of this shot!

I think it was the background that made this carefully arranged group of sticky tapes stand out. It’s surprising how such common elements can be put together to make up such a pleasing image. This was not the result of casually throwing some tapes together, but a well-considered assembly of what you had to hand. Well done!
