Exactly what I was looking for! The content is perfect, a Roman Centurion, checking his iPhone with the adding bonus of choking down some 20th Century tar. It's also a nicely taken shot too, the light is great, detail comes through well and we can see smoke fizzing off the ciggy as well but it's also the intense look of concentration on his face, either from what he's reading, or smoking, or both. Congratulations on 1st place and well done.
This is exactly what I had in mind when I created this competition, although this is quite unusual (in a good way) because it's not the people who are the anachronisms. Great composition that means it takes the eye/brains a couple of seconds to clock what the anachronism is. Congratulations on 5th place and well done.
This is exactly what I had in mind when I created this competition. While I'm not usually into still life shots (mainly because I'm not very good at them.....) this one definitely stood out. It's really well lit and it takes the eye a second or two to register that there's something wrong. Congratulations on 4th place and well done.
This is exactly what I had in mind when I created this competition. It's a nice perspective of the camera looking back up the hill and you know that van driver is yanking on the brakes and likely swearing because he's stuck behind this guy for the next 5 miles. Congratulations on 9th place and well done.

An anachronism is defined as something belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it is exists. In this contest I would love to see your photographic interpretation of anachronisms. Maybe you were at a battle reenactment and saw a Napoleonic soldier checking his iPhone or maybe a Lancaster pilot pulled up next to his airplane in a modern car. Alternatively, your shot could be firmly based in the world of today with a relic from the past taking pride of place in it.
This is exactly what I had in mind when I created this competition. I usually don't like shots of people when you can;t see their faces but this really works because I guess you've desaturated the rest of the shot and even though tehy're the odd ones out, they seem to be onlookers in the scene too. Congratulations on 6th place and well done.
This is exactly what I had in mind when I created this competition. It works really well under the "anachronism" title but also works because I can feel the frustration of the drivers behind while these boys seem wholly unconcerned that they're holding traffic up. Congratulations on 8th place and well done.
Meet the judge
Just what I had in mind for this contest. Great shot and he's really well lit too, so that he stands out against the modern background. His eyes being closed is a nice touch too, I can almost hear yelling "hear ye, hear ye" at some cold caller from Virgin Media who wants to sell him a new contract. Congratulations on 3rd place.
