Thanks for entering the contest. This photograph came a very close second and is the sort of image that I would like to have taken myself.. I love the way the anchor frames the quayside in the background. Also one of my passions is reflections in water and this is a great example.. The dark finish of the anchor contrasts well with the colourful painting of the cottages making for an excellent.image. Well done.
First of all, Thank You, to everyone who entered the contest. The standard was very high making judging particularly difficult. However. after much deliberation, I chose this photograph as my overall winner. I find the image totally captivating. The anchors give foreground interest and the curve of the anchor leads the eye to the abandoned boat, higher up the beach. The whole makes good use of the rule of thirds and the choice of black and white gives the image a haunting feel. Congratulations.

Living as I do on England's south coast, I come across anchors of many shapes and sizes, utilised in many different ways. In this contest I would like to see your best shots of anchors, however they occur. Whether stowed on ships, holding boats fast, made into monuments, or even abandoned on beaches. Colour or black and white is fine. Try for original angles or unusual framing. Good luck.
