A fine close up image of a Chameleon's head and shoulder. Love the color, texture and pattern. I feel like I want to reach out and feel the texture of its skin. The coils around the eye add to the fascination of this prehistoric looking creature. Great capture and congratulations on making my top ten selection.
Gorgeous portrait of an elephant. For me you have exactly the right angle and framing to fully illustrate the age of this elephant. The image says it all, a long life and that far away look as if recalling the past. The texture of the skin behind the ears, like coiled rope, the stray grey hairs under the chin, in the ears and on the crown. This image tells a story and tells it well. Great image. Congratulations on making my top ten selection.
An unusual shot of a Giraffe's flank. You have nicely broken up the usual "crazy paving" pattern of white and brown and captured the undulating folds of skin adding an extra interest to the image. I can't quite work out the orientation of the Giraffe which makes it a good abstract. The giraffe looks like it may be lying down but this would be very unusual. Good shot and congratulations on making my top ten selection.
You have managed to capture this little Geko in great detail and at the same time show the water droplet that he is about to lick. At F18 he is very sharp with a full depth of field. I love the color and definition of the eye and water droplet. Great complementary colors and texture of the skin, right down to the little pads on his feet. Excellent control of lighting keeping specular highlights to a minimum, in fact almost non existent. Wonderful shot and congratulations on making my top ten selection.
Even with a strong crop this image maintains impressive detail. A very good diagonal curved composition with the addition of a series of complex swirls of feathers. The black background works very well holding complete attention on the subject and the enclosed red bill adds a nice color splash. I like that one small set of feathers at the top opposes the general flow of the composition. Outstanding image and congratulations on being my number one selection.
