This very emotive image takes second place, and as the viewer we are left asking questions. The photographer has created a strong narrative in the scene as it appears that the person is in distress. This is shown through the awkward body language and the tension in the hands. The photographer has made excellent use of the space and the slightly blurred backdrop behind adds to their confusion/distress. Finally the black and white conversion creates a strong finish.
Well done to our third place photographer. This image goes to show that sometimes a simple approach gets a winning shot. This image is all about composition and how objects occupy a space. What the photographer has decided to include is just as important as what they have excluded. There are lots of shapes that work well together. The use of bold colours creates a strong finish and the photographer has done a great job of getting the white balance spot on.
Well done to the photographer who has created this amazing abstract image, and has be crowned our abstract winner! The use of the bold bright colours is highly effective and the simplicity of the setup draws the viewer in. The final result has a Adam Fuss appeal (Adam Fuss is a British Fine Art photographer known for his camera-less images) and would sit easily in any art gallery! The composition of the portrait orientation works well with the body pose, and it appears effective where the hands connect with the surface. Great work.

Instead of taking pictures that tell the whole story, isolate fragments that make compelling images in their own right. Once you develop your eye for detail, framing and composition you’ll discover that anything is fair game, from lines and shapes to shadows and colours.
