The use of depth of field provides a frame is packed with people reflecting the hustle and bustle of a busy outdoor dining environment. The central focus on the waiter getting on with his job drew me to this image as I feel that it captures the documentary aspect of the brief well. A worthy winner, well done.
I like the composition and edit on this image. The use of black and white and contrast really enhances the the light and shadows bringing drama and balance to the image. I especially like the use of depth of field with the silhouetted figure in the background with the table and chairs in the foreground sharp. A clever capture.
I think that this image really captures and documents the moment well. I feel that this image provokes a sensory response as you can almost hear the birds squawking and the sound of the waves splashing whilst they bombard the fishermen for some of the fish that have been caught. A good documentary entry for this brief.

I liked this sharp capture of a herder at work. The edit makes the viewer feel as though there is a storm coming as the dark clouds bring weight and texture to the image. I think that the edit could be possibly be improved if the the saturation / vibrance was reduced slightly. A good entry and understanding of the brief.
I think that this photo is captures the brief extremely well. It documents a time and the shared experience of thousands of key workers in the NHS and across the care sector. The figure in the centre gives perspective against the movement of the doors. I also think that the over exposure in the edit reinforces the sterile hospital working environment.
I liked the strong visual contrast of colour in this image with the painter standing out against the bold blue. I think that the slice of shadow is important for depth and perspective, however I think that this image could possibly be improved by cropping 2/3rds of the white wall out so there is only a strip of white with featuring the painters shadow. A good entry overall.

We spend a lot of our lives at work, but it is an aspect of our lives not photographed nearly as much as the time spent out of work. The world of work is a fantastic opportunity for documentary and portrait photography, and if you’re looking for inspiration then you could do worse than checking out the photography of Lewis Hine, who documented the American working class at the turn of the 20th century, and was instrumental in bringing the issue of child labour to greater prominence.
