I love photographs that hint at a story and leave the viewer to decide on the narrative.
This is one such example and is very well thought out and crafted. The oblique angles of the knife, door and jam/blood trails guide the eye into the image to the blurred but recognisable bath and dangling arm beyond.
A crime of passion I daresay, messy but not premeditated.
RIP poor old Mara T.
Many thanks to all of you who submitted such a variety of images to the contest. I enjoyed looking through each and every one of them.
In my judging I was looking for creative interpretations of the brief and this, my first placed image, admirably meets that requirement.
It’s well thought out, quite surreal and beautifully presented.
A marvellous image and so deserving of first place.

There were quite a few entries featuring pretty ladies in various states of undress and this is one of my favourites of that genre.
What a lovely light and airy image it is.
Such a simple photograph, most suiting of the monochrome approach, and a delight to view.
Well done on a deserved top ten placing.
A fun image but also very well thought out and composed. The colours of the sand and brilliant blue sky work so well together and the strong diagonal is a visual treat.
I’d be tempted to clone out the various masts and aerials but that’s very much a personal opinion.
Well done on your top ten placing.
I love this image.
There’s something about the light, the bright colours and the placing of the individual elements that gives an almost surreal and cartoon like look. I’m glad there are no people in the scene as that would hint at a reality that this photograph just doesn’t need.
Congratulations on your top ten placing.
A pleasing composition with the oblique angles of the wall and wooden screen leading the eye into the room to the beautiful bath and window beyond.
Also a most difficult scene to photograph with the extremes of light and shade and reflections in the highly polished bath tub.
An ideal scene for HDR imagery and one in which I think the photographer has got the balance just about right. Under process and you have blocked out shadows and blown highlights, over process and you destroy the natural balance of light and shade.
Congratulations on your top ten placing.

Please show me your best photographs that feature baths or bath-tubs from any period of history. The baths may be photographed indoors or outside and people may be included if you wish. Please note that I only want to see private or domestic baths and so pictures of communal bathing facilities such as Turkish baths, swimming pools and communal showers are not permitted. Entries may be in colour or black and white.
