Congratulations on what is a really amazing shot. Of over 1,200 entries, this one appealed to me the most and fit the brief perfectly. Firstly, the framing is super effective. Not only does the large space to the left give the image a clean, modern feel, but it causes the eyes to travel between the left and right sides of the shot, accentuating the implied movement of the subjects (the players). Furthermore, keeping the number of subjects low allows the viewer to concentrate on and truly appreciate the detail of the boys; their enthusiasm, their diverse body positions. Here, the predominately white background emphasises such details. This is a really great shot! Congratulations!!
This is a superb picture! What is most striking is the juxtaposition. The street vendor, an older woman, is still and quiet in contrast to the younger crowd, blurred for the speed at which they live. It’s a beautiful and pointed comparison of the generations. The subject is positioned in the centre of the frame, and this, along with the longer exposure, invites us to focus solely on her: her expression, her body language. The B&W really compliments this image, and I don’t actually think it would have worked in colour; it might have been too distracting. A really great shot! Well done!!

However if you're not a paying subscriber you can still purchase entries for £2 (GBP) per image.*** As American photographer Andri Cauldwell once said, “To see in colour is a delight for the eye but to see in black and white is a delight for the soul.” The potential of black and white has long been understood in photography, especially with regard to street scenes which are so often filled with energy and nuance. Give it a try for yourself.

To me, street photography is about catching a moment; something that’s about to happen or has just happened. Unfortunately, in this instance, my eyes are drawn more to the architecture, and the subject, the runner, gets a little lost. I can see that the idea/intention was there, to frame the subject using the bridge, however it could have been executed a little differently to ensure that the runner was undoubtedly the focus. For example, had the gaps between the pillars been smaller and more equal, it would have led our attention from the right-hand side towards the runner in a more natural way. Also, if the subject were closer, the darker colours of his clothes and the fence/wall behind would give the image a bit of mystery; something for the viewer to ponder over.
This is a great architectural shot! The perspective, from below, gives a great sense of height which is complimented by the lines of the building and sculpture. It also serves to draw your eye to the sky, which is really dramatic, striking and seems almost limitless. The only critique would be that it doesn’t quite fit the brief, and is more of an architectural shot than street photography.
