Street photography is all about picking out moments of curious alignment – where aspects of a coincidence come together in a way that feels staged. Oh to be a kid feeling as if they can fly. This shot is perfectly timed to capture the playfulness of the scene while to tight composition allows a restriction of context. This removes the sense of height and allows is to enjoy the sensation of levitation from the child's perspective. Well done.

The choice to convert or shoot this image in black and white is an effective one. It strips away the distraction of colour and allows us to focus on the moment of action. The frame is perfectly timed to capture the silhouette of the girl outlined against the brighter tones of the water, and the arc of sea spray. Well composed and considered.

We don't need to see the whole subject in this scene to know what is happening and how the subject may be feeling. It's a moment of calm, possibly on an otherwise hectic day, and the use of black and white strips back the shot to the basics of light and texture.
