Although relatively small in the frame, the composition of the shot allows the container ship to be the key focus of the image. The lines of the railings on the jettys draw the eye to the horizon, and the ship is also cleverly framed by the lampposts. The soft lighting works well and allows the ship to bathe in a lovely golden glow. Congratulations on your winning image.
Of the many shots of container ships at sea, this one appealed most to my eye. Focus is sharp throughout, and the composition works well, with the foreground ship dominant but the ship in the mid-distance allowing the eye to move back into the frame. Everything looks quite natural as the eye would see it, with no garish colours of harsh editing effects. Well done on your top ten placing.
I initially thought this image was a likely composite, created by repeating a smaller number of containers to create a wider and more impactful shot. However, a quick look over some of the numbers on the containers indicates the image is very much as seen, which makes it all the more impressive. You have done well to keep everything precisely lined up, probably thtough a combination of accurate shooting and careful image editing, which is essential for a shot like this to work best. The odd black container really makes the shot and completes the abstract. Congratulations on your third place finish.

There were a few entries of close-up images of containers, but this one stood out for me. The composition is pleasing to view, with the arrangement of containers seen both from the end and the side. The colours work well too, with a dominance of green and some smaller pops of blue and red, with the white writing helping keep everything bright. Great image well done on your top ten placing.

This contest is for your photos of container ships and shipping containers. Images can show these mighty vessels loaded with containers or empty, in dock or at sea. You can also show shipping containers on land, including shipping containers that have now been repurposed. If showing the containers being used for alternative purposes, it must be clear they were originally shipping containers. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
