Although this is not what I had in mind, I like the graphic look and feel of the several areas. It's a nice strong image in which the empty area has an important role for the overall look and feel.

The empty space plays as much an important role as the kid and the hands. That's why I love it: the empty space is a huge part of the story. Together with the way the concept has been realised makes it a top 10 picture.

Negative space in 2 ways - a multi layered interpretation of the brief. I'm looking for negative space that makes the main subject less recognizable and/or tells a part of the story. Although I love this graphic image, it's not a top 10 photo.

This is a funny and original interpretation of 'negative or empty space'. I didn't have such a thing in mind, but I have to admit that it does fit the brief!

Thanks for making me smile, I appreciate your unique way of thinking/reading.

This image put a great smile on my face. I love the humor in it. The empty sky is just perfect together with the traffic light. It tells a part of the story. Simple, well balanced and funny. Thanks for making my day!

I like the original interpretation of the brief and the also original concept. You created something from scratch, I love that. The positive/negative version of the brief was not what I have in mind, but that doesn't mean it can't get a good score!

I love this image because of the minimalistic, graphic look and feel. It's a very strong image. The empty spaces add so much here. The black on the right makes a perfect frame with the grey on the left for the white triangle that grabs the attention (because it's the lightest part). And then we see the juxtaposition of the bended lines of the lamp and the straight lines of the three areas that frame it. Plus of course the juxtaposition of the black lamp on the white background. Well done.

Haha, empty space in two ways :-) Both the hole in the wall and the lack of other elements make this an on brief image. I like the humor of it. It's not what I'm looking for, unfortunately. I'm searching for an image that has NOT been completely filled, but leaves empty space too. I know, it's a thin line or a grey area... But hey, 'highly recommended' is superb too!

This is an original way of interpreting 'empty/negative' space! I love it. And it is creative indeed! The subject and image itself do not make up for a superb result, hence it's not a top 10 picture. But the above mentioned great points give it a 'highly recommended' stamp instead since I do appreciate the concept very much.

Empty space has 2 meaning in this photograph and that makes it good. The emptiness in the middle combined with the groups of people walking away from each other, add importance the story here. Well done, strong image. And I love the little dogs on the left. Cute detail.

What a funny picture! I love it. It's not what I had in mind, but that doesn't mean it's not good. I like the original interpretation of the brief and the well worked out result! And I like the title. I love word play.

This seems te be a kind of a double layered photo when you take the brief into account. The empty space is filled with negative space (the foot prints). I like that kind of funny 'details' or humor in a photo.

In this contest I would like you to enter your photos that make use of empty or negative space in a powerful way. I am looking for pictures that depict the meaning of 'less is more'. We often take photos of an object we like but maybe do not always consider the space around it. So try to capture an image that has balance between stuff and emptiness, that uses the negative space of the background to make a stunning picture. The subject can be anything you like, as long as the picture makes clear you really thought about how to use negative/empty space. Both colour and black and white photos are welcome.
