Drone photography

The spot colour of the orange boats are a lovely complementary colour to the blue tones of the sea. The white waves are a nice boundary to the browny orange of the sand. I like how it feels the boats are slowly dripping into the water.

I really like the strong and graphic detail captured in this image. There are lots of different shapes here from ovals to rectangles to the diagonal lines of the sunshine and shadow areas. I also like the colour palette of greens, yellows and greys. It makes for a very appealing photograph.

This image stood out as it has a lot of energy with the boat speeding through the water creating its circular waves. I like the composition and the way that circular feel is mirrored in the calm water to the left. The bright greens and dark blues work well.

I like this as it is an unusual viewpoint for something like this event.I found myself trying to study the faces in the crowd to see if anyone had noticed the drone. I thought the composition was very good with the lines of the ring leading to the other lines of the fence, it gives me a left to right feeling.

This image is amazing and really interesting with all the detail captured from the drone which gives it a completely different look that you would get from ground level. The subtle tones of the greens are very interesting as are all the lines of the fields and road.

I think this image is very well thought out and composed, I'm sure a lot of work went into this prior to actually shooting it, with the green dress matching the tones of the colour of the sea. The colour of the sand compliments the dress and sea nicely.

This has been a really enjoyable contest to judge but also a really difficult one as there were so many great entries. I have finally decided that this is the winning image as I love the top down view of all the bright colours and circular bowls, it seems very chaotic in a good way.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't know all those buildings had such vivid colours if it wasn't for an arial photo. This is composed really well with the bright colours almost dripping into the blue sea and white wash. It is a very strong shot.

I could look at this picture for hours, I really like the dramatic energy of the waves and the tiny figure of the surfer fighting the power of the water. The colour palette of the blues, whites and the spot colour of the yellow surf board stand out great.

This is such a classic drone image. The black road zig zagging across the frame is well composed and it gives me the impression of black ink running across white paper. The monochrome feel is lovely and the tiny cars add interesting little visual elements.

I like this image and it stood out with the movement that was created presumably by a slowish shutter speed and obviously a very steady drone. It has a very nice atmosphere about the shot and I like the colour palette of browns and yellows. The sunlight and shadows are great too.

This is a very interesting viewpoint and the picture is very well composed. I like all the textures going on here, from the natural elements of the grass and plants to the hard, man made concrete. It's nicely lit with the soft sunshine and plenty of detail in the shadow areas.

This image stood out being very different from others. Firstly, the colours are great with the various pink and grey tones. I love the distressed look of the paintwork on the train and also that gap between the train and the rails in really interesting. It makes me feel the train is thinking whether it can make it or not.

I like all the things going on in this picture. The shape of the roundabout with all its white lines going around are a lovely contrast to the graphic, rectangular lines of the car park in the middle. It left me studying the image, trying to work out why the car park is there.
